Is it good to have them drawing the same volume of air or having say a more powerful exhaust fans.

What set up do you think would be most optimal...say in a case that only had 1 intake and 1 exhaust?

I'm just interested tbh not something I thinks going to make or break a systems cooling set-up.

I always tend to go for positive pressure in the case.

That way you don't get dust drawn in through every panel gap as you can guarantee that the incoming air is filtered (make sure to fit filters - makes a world of difference ;)) by the intake fans and nothing else.

For example, i have 2x sharkoon silent eagles drawing air into the upper portion of my case for the mobo and only one fan exhausting.

Temps are great and dust is kept to a minimum.

what he said :) - when I used fans, I also always kept a slight possative pressure to reduce dust.

works best at lower air movements (aka max 3 fans at 7v or below).

For 'wind tunnel' approach with higher flow balance both in and out

So i'm looking at ordering the lian li a17

http://www.lian-li.com/v2/en/produc...135&cl_index=1&sc_index=25&ss_index=62&g=spec

It has a front 1500rpm (120mm) and a rear 1500rpm (120mm) and a top 1200rpm (140mm)

So I may take out both the rear and front fans and replace with a 1000rpm at the back and a 2000rpm at the front, just to balance it out a bit more. All the drives have filters so any extra air pulled in will likely go through those.

...and a 2000rpm at the front, just to balance it out a bit more.
Going to be noisy...
And if you want to keep dust out instead of searching for ways to generate more noise block dust intakes/leaks from lower back and exhaust fans will draw air into case through front. (which should have low total impedance)

Also remove back exhaust fan's restrictive internal stamped guard.

no one says you need to use all the 3 fans just because the case has space for that many.

Use one at front bringing air in and one at back taking it out, simple, no point of using the last one. You don't need to balance anything, air aint water, if there is a bit more coming in than out lol, not like its gonna get stuck in there or something ;-).

I also always use the positive pressure approach to help keep dust to a minimum. Mines an old Lian-Li case with 80mm fans but I run the 2 front fans at a slightly higher speed then the rear and top vent fans.
