S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky - Gone Gold

I'm still wondering how Total Film managed to review this in their current issue (which I got beginning of August). Hax I reckon.

They would have only got a preview build. But they're a Film magazine so they probably don't know the difference between preview build and a review build.

Is this just an expansion? I take it the game will still be buggy like the original...

take it you've not played it since it was patched up? Not that buggy at all, fantastic game.

And also, no it's not an expansion, it's a standalone prequel, about all the different clans entering deeper and deeper into an unknown zone.

According to PC Zone magazine (who I trust) this is game that STALKER: SOC should have been. Apparently it still has fairly mundane dialogue, but is a much more graphically and otherwise immersive game.

I'll be buying on steam!

If I've never played Stalker, reckon I should start playing the old one now in anticipation of this, or just wait until the new one is out if Clear Sky's going to be the game Stalker should have been?

From what I have read, S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky will closely resemble the original vision for S.T.A.L.K.E.R Oblivion Lost / Shadow of Chernobyl, boasting improved AI, A-Life and numerous visual / game play enhancements. S.T.A.L.K.E.R Clear Sky is set one year before the events of S.T.A.L.K.E.R Shadow of Chernobyl. Logic would dictate that you play them in some kind of chronological order. However, the difference in graphics and game play mechanics between Clear Sky and Shadow of Chernobyl may be noticeable and potentially harm your enjoyment of the latter.

I am currently playing Shadow of Chernobyl now that it has been patched. It's a great game and I'm having a lot of fun. The graphics are still impressive and a lot of the annoying bugs I experienced during my first attempt at playing the game have been fixed or are so infrequent I do not notice them. Personally, I'm going to finish Shadow of Chernobyl first before playing Clear Sky. Basically, I don’t want to play Clear Sky first and then be disappointed by Shadow of Chernobyl because it is missing the updated graphics and game play enhancements I enjoyed while playing Clear Sky.

Anyone know if blowouts, or something similar, are included this time? I know PCZone's review is floating around somewhere but I can’t get to it from work!

The Wiki entry states "Blowouts possibly going to be included."

By Blowout I take it you mean the large increases in radition from the reactor. If so then I think they are included as it's meationed in the pc zone review that you have to run for safe zones before the blowouts starts.
