Ive been reading through wikipedia and some other sites to try find some info on 802.11n wireless for my 3000 word report i have to write as part of my course. Problem is, im having trouble understanding a bit of the 802.11n specification.

Wikipedia says that as well as the 2.4GHz frequency that previous wireless works on, 802.11n can also work on the 5GHz range, and so for backwards compatibility a 802.11n device can use the 5GHz range for 802.11n traffic, and the 2.4GHz range for b/g traffic.

Backwards compatibility is essential as not all devices work with 802.11n yet, but according to my report, only the 2.4GHz range is allowed in the UK. Does this mean that the devices will only be able to use either 802.11n, or 802.11b/g? or can 802.11n share the 2.4GHz range along with b and g at the same time?

802.11n devices can do 802.11n over 2.4Ghz. As with b and g, associating a mix of standards results in a degradation of throughput.

I dont suppose you have a link to a reliable source of that information do you? Its not that i dont trust you, it just wouldnt look right to put an internet forum on my references list :p
