Hi guys

Bit of an ongoing fiasico this afternoon...

Vista 64 was BSODing, I found out that Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 was clashing with Spybot.

So I've rolled back to before the Kaspersky install, uninstalled Comodo firewall and am trying to uninstall Avast antivirus (which was the security programs before KIS 2009).

Unfortuantely it comes up with an error message when I try and uninstall Avast.

So I downloaded the program again, double clicked the exe to run but nothing happens which is a bit odd.

And it won't let me even delete the folder manually, apparantly I don't have permission to perform this action - even when in safe mode and Avast isn't loaded at all!

The Avast folder is showing as read only, so I uncheck that but every time I click OK to confirm it makes it read only again...

It's been a pain sorting out the BSOD but I've done it and now I've fallen at the last hurdle of trying to get rid of a not functioning anti-virus after a rollback.

Any suggestions would be greatly received!!!

Thanks in advance. :)

So you had the following on your PC all in one go:-

1. Kaspersky 2009 (Firewall & AV)
2. Spybot
3. Windows Firewall
4. Windows Defender
5. Comodo Firewall
6. Avast AV

 Bit overkill that like, anyways, for your problem, maybes set yourself as the owner on the folder and replace all the child objects. See if that lets you delete it. :)

Nope, I had Avast antivirus, Comodo firewall and Spybot adware checker.

Comodo and Avast were removed to install Kaspersky.

Kaspersky doesn't get on well with Spybot and BSOD on boot.

I had to go into safe mode and roll back, which put Comodo, and a broken Avast back on (whilst removing Kaspersky).

Thanks for the tip, I've set myself as owner...doesn't let me delete it though...not sure what you mean by 'child objects'.

Are you 100% sure they are clashing ,reason i ask there was a recent Dat update for KIS2009 that caused a BSOD on x64 Vista

Ah heck, yep, that's exactly the issue...SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION and kl1.sys.

Thanks for pointing that out, bah, can't believe I didn't spot it before *facepalm*

Obviously it wasn't clashing with Spybot (though there are many many posts about that).

EDIT
Sorted it! :D Found a file on Avasts website that allows me to totally uninstall Avast from safe mode when it's corrupted etc...rebooted and it's working as normal!

For anyone needing the link if they look at this thread in future:

Thanks for the help folks...I'm having a few issues with other things that I'm trying to sort out (completely unrelated) so you may not have seen the end of me yet :)
