Hiper PSU's - do Hiper 'know' which models are likely to blow?

I've got 2x 580w modular Type R's (from old systems) one i use for testing motherboards, the other is in my brother's gaming pc (hardly ever uses it)

Are all the hiper problems from old faulty batches, or are the newer ones plagued with their problems too?

Should I give Hiper my serial no's and ask them if there's likely to be a problem with them?

Had no problems so far with them, but they're not really used a great deal

Opinions..?

The 580w Type-Rs were the ones that tended to go bang from what I've heard.

I've had four other Hiper PSUs in my system (580w Type M, 770w Type R, 630w Type M and 880w Type M) and have had no trouble, so I think their quality control has improved.

It does'nt seem to matter if it's the older or newer versions as they both can fail. Mine was the older version and when it blew took out a motherboard as well.

The problem with the Hiper R 580W is the low 12V output. A rating of 380W would be more realistic compared to recently rated PSU's

While build quality can be suspect, many people think they have a 580W psu in the system and that is plenty of power but in reality with a quad and a power hungry GPU they can be loading the PSU at 80+ % or the realistic rating on a regular basis.... asking for trouble.
