Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 is $4.99 + VAT this weekend.

Does anyone still play this game - is it worth £3.50?

It's ok(ish)

The graphics is a bit dated and the gameplay won't offer you anything new.

But £3.50..might aswell

A sequel would be good. Tripwire have the license to the unreal 3 engine so they are working on something.

Very good game but expect to die a lot, and don't expect shiny graphics. They aren't amazing to look at but it is kind of gritty, which suits it.

There's nothing quite like lying in a bunker waiting for someone to move into sight, not knowing where the next bullet will come from to take you out

It's a fantastic game, much better than most other online FPS games.

I actually think the graphics are pretty good considering.

For this price there is no reason not to get it!

EDIT: Seems RO will also be the first 3rd party game to have mods for it released on Steam! The first, Mare Nostrum, is out now. Going to download it and see what it's like.

It's quite tempting at that price, never been tempted before already having most of the other source based games from steam.

It's not a Source based game it uses the Unreal Engine 2.5

Wasn't that free mod thing for years?
Yes. It started as a MOH:AA mod, then moved to SoF2. It finally settled down with UT2003, followed by UT2004 where it was quite popular for a few years. It then won the Make Something Unreal competition for which the prize was a free UE2.5 and UE3 licence. It was then later released as a proper game and has come on a long way since then, with a lot of improvements and new features.

Used to love it but the European playerbase dwindled a while ago now.

A really great game if you understand it, it's not like your typical run and gun :)

Worth £17 (what i paid) let along £3.

bought this last night , i used to play it years ago as a mod UT mod , bargain for £3:50 :)

I grabbed that last night awell :)

question about steam , if i format my machine can i download the game again free of charge ? or is there a way to burn the game to cd/dvd as a back up ?

You can log in to any computer around the world with Steam and download any game that you paid for on that acount :)

You can do that too, if you don't want to wait for the download (which isn't a big deal on a good connection).

Just bought this and got 2 guest passes to give out which last 10 days. So, who ever wants em post here :)
I was about to ask for one, but by the time I make up my mind the deal will be over. I'll probably just give it a whirl for 3 bob.

What is the pacing like? Is it comparable to anything else, game or mod? I always imagined pacing would be similar to Forgotten Hope 2 or Project Reality, but that's completely baseless curiosity.

snagged this last night, yet to play it but for the price whats not to like.
What is the Darkest hours BEta thing ?
A mod ?
Or a patch to expand the RO game ?

Very impressive game and great if your into WW2 and sick of the run and gun and nade everything COD/MOH stuff.

I'm about to reinstall and have another pop at it, I like the gritty graphics and textures too, its a like washedout look to it
