Noah Mini-itx case

Great case - built one for my GF recently with a Jeantec VIA C7 mobo. Great cooling, decent space (for an ITX case) and accepts a full size hdd.

Inbuilt PSU seems fairly decent too.

You getting the black or silver fronted version?

Edit: Also, i'd consider the Travla C138. Comes with a beefy 120w PSU, has a pci slot with riser supplied and is able to accept full size HDD's too.

mates got a noah, he has it under his tv, cant really hear it. silverstone might not be worth the extra money in terms of useful things, but it certainly looks much better. :D

GT Junkie, Is the Noah a quiet case?
If you have a quiet solution on the cpu and you 7v (or even 5v) the intake fan on the case then yes it's very quiet.

At stock the case fan is a little intrusive though - only saving grace is that the hardware within should have such a low power output that it doesn't neet to run 100% all the time.

Any chane of some pics mate for size comparison etc?

I can only seem to find stock ones.

Thinking of going for the black one, but im also tempted just to splash out and get the Silverstone.

Excellent :)
Hey fella,

Sorry about the quality... bit rushed - tinny for scale :):

Thanks very much mate.

I think i'm tempted to order one. Do you use yours as main system?
Nope THIS is my main rig. :D

The Noah is a machine i made for my GF. Her job is home based and she works from her PC all day. I made it as i new she would be using it a lot and didn't want sky high electricity bills.

Works a treat for basic web surfing and general desktop tasks. If you want more power an atom mobo would be useful... or a mobile C2D set up. :)

Haha Very nice :p

Thinking of going for the Gigabyte Atom board.

Only really use the PC now for browsing, office apps and watching DVDs/DIVX so no real need for having uber systems anymore.

Atom would be perfect then! :)

Let us know how you get on with it - just remember to 5v/7v the case fan. :D

Might sound stupid but how would I do that :p

Prob order the case in Black tomorrow along with an atom board.
If you use google to search for 'volt modding fans' i think the top link will help you.

I've done it in the past by getting a molex extender (simple male to female molex to molex cable) and removing and swapping the cables in the order you'll see on that link from google. Pretty easy once you get the molex pins out! :)

Only additional item you'll need is a molex to 3 pin adapter so you can connect up the fan.

Should make a big difference too.Good luck! :D

I'm reviving this thread, as it's exactly the case I also got (the black version)

If you use an Atom board, you can plug the case fan to the motherboard header and it will auto-regulate. It's minimum speed is about 980rpm and that's a whisper at 30cm in a dead quiet room.

Otherwise I like the case, it's solidly built, good metal everywhere.

I'm planning a HTPC build using the Noah (Silver) case, keep seeing quite a few places that stock it now.

Has anyone else got a 780G motherboard to use in it? Been looking at the Jetway JNC81-LF due to its impressive list of features, although just one shop actually stocks it. Should make a great media centre with plenty of grunt for what it needs.

An Atom-based rig is tempting too though, just pondering whether it would be enough for demanding movie decoding/H.264/BD/HD-DVD etc. since I'll be able to save on money, power draw and noise!

What kind of budget do you have?

I would also consider a Fly Creek mobo and wolfdale dual core (e5200 or similar) as the mobo works wonderfully and runs HD material with around 30% cpu usage on average.

I'm running an e7200 in the board with a lappy DVDRW, lappy HDD and 2gb of DDR2. Idles @ 49w and loads up around 64w playing hd material.

Once a bios update is released to allow for lower CPU voltage manipulation it will be perfect since i know my processor will run at stock speed on under 1v.
