P45-T2RS new bios?

I bought a P45-T2RS motherboard (link) and I have had no problems with it (not overclocking but want crossfire support for future).

However... the bios it came with does not have an option to run the memory at it's 1066.

I don't have a floppy disc drive to update the new bios on and when i run the program winflash it tells me its the wrong bios for my motherboard (which it isn't). The bios which I think I need is the second down on the list here

Can someone confirm? I don't want to kill my motherboard :|

I'd flash using a USB stick

Flashed bios using USB and all seemed to go well. Got 10 mins with all settings perfect then I started getting random blue screens (0000003B):

If I set everything to optimised defaults it seems to not bluescreen (yet).

The only thing I have changed (which was in the bios upgrade) was my RAM being able to run at its true speed of 1066.

Can anyone point me in the right direction

hmmm mine is nice and stable but never got my ram much over 1000mhz. I just thought it was due to running all 4 dram slots. It's in bits ATM so can't tell you *** bios I'm running but I did flash it since new.

I flashed the bios to get the 1066 RAM option. I'm sure it's the bios version I've put on it that's gone and done it :(

Do you know the page from DFI you got the bios from? Did you use a USB stick to flash? I've tried both the bios' DFI have for download on their site.

I assume you flashed from DOS? All the windows flashing programes should be avoided like the plauge.

Would suggest running Memtest86+, just to make sure it's the ram causing the BSODs, even if it's the BIOS update that's started the problem off.

Yeah I used a bootable USB in DOS

I ran windows memory diagnostics which came back no errors. However vista has come back after all the BSODs and given me a summary saying that it is definitely a piece of hardware but it can't say which one. I will run memory diagnostics again because I have changed the memory slots (in previous thread). Could having the memory in the wrong slots and flashing cause problems?

I haven't had any BSODs in a while. After I changed the memory to the correct setup I went back to the latest setup. Back in a mo.

Ah ok, I'll run memtest86 tomorrow. No CDs in the house ATM. Don't fancy the USB key version after the fun I've had with bios flashing today - still no BSODs since latest flash with memory in new slots (compared to one every 2 minutes!)

Yeah never use Winflash with DFI boards, they even recommend that you dont.
That said the first time i did mine it went ok.

The p45 2trs should easily run 4gb of 1066 memory. Though you have the JR version so it could be a little different.
Jimbo is correct, my DFI put my defualt mem voltage at 1.9, though the sticks require 2.1 at least.

Do a google search for DFI CLUB. That will point you towards the DFI support forums. Be sure to put all your system details in your sig before posting though.

Okay - I reflashed and made sure to clear CMOS completely before and no problems since. RAM happily running at 1066 dual channel symmetric. Windows doesn't feel quite as nippy. Itunes had an issue with windows DEP thing but I reinstalled and that's stopped. So all good.

I have noticed:

In bios DRAM voltage it automatically sets it too low (as nearly all mobos seem to do) so I set it to 2.0V. When I save CMOS and go back into the bios again it shows in status thing that ACTUAL dram voltage is 1.98. When I select 2.26V it shows voltage as 2.01V

Should I up it to this?

Discovered that it is running correct voltage through - then suddenly after running ok after all day i hit a flurry of BSODs randomly (will work however under 'optimised settings').

I don't know if the bios or windows isn't happy or perhaps my memory. I can't see what else could cause it...

So from here I guess I:
1) Run memtest

if persists
2) Reflash bios

if persists
3) Reinstall vista

Found bad stick of memory so have removed to RMA and am now running on one stick for now. (ordered some corsair and gonna sell the crucial + RMA replacement)

Still getting same BSOD as above randomly, should I reflash bios and reinstall vista?(could a bad bios flash have corrupted something?)

I have never had that problem with my DFI. 2.2v set shows as 2.2v.
Im using OCZ Ram dont kow if that would make a difference.

If you've got some, try some old Ram/try borrow some, Wipe the CMOS etc and reinstall vista.

If its still BSOD might well be the mobo?

And seriously get on the DFI support forums, they can give you very specidic help to that mobo.

Got some corsair arriving tomorrow to try out. I don't trust crucial - although whether its causing bluescreens I don't know. I suspect I have hashed the bios or windows. Still I'll reflash and reinstall tomorrow when I have 2GB of RAM :(
