Okay, the cars in for its MOT and its costing me £350 which im not payin :D Im gonna do a lot of the work myself over the next month or so before sending it in for its MOT properly as im paid weekly and cant afford the money upfront but theres something i need finding out please :D

Now when Puntos were made there was a problem, they had a problem with the Brake lines? I think.. or something along those lines that goes under the fuel tank at the rear, maybe its a brake cylinder i thinkkkk.. Man i dunno.

Anyways, this problem is going to cost me a fair bit due to the fact that tha tank needs to come off to replace the part, but apparantly the problem that the part has has always been a problem and Fiat have given them a lifetime waranty, now if this true & am i thinking about the right part?

I know its something under the fuel tank just cant remember the part..

Anyway, any help will be appreciated, Cheers.

Its a "Fiat Punto ss 96 1.1" if that helps.

There was a brake lines recall at one point, but it was for all the lines, not the problem you mentioned. Anyhow, if there was a recall, and yours hadn't been done, FIAT would foot the bill and the dealer would jump at the work. This is assuming you've been to a FIAT dealer, if you haven't, call one and check for any outstanding recalls.

Hand brake cables often need replacing too, you can tell if one has been done, because almost no one does the clips up properly and they end up hanging down.

Quality i knew someone would know!! I think its all of them, the mechanic did say its a big problem.

Im sure it was the brake lines.. I need to ring them, im going up on thursday so ill get the number from him and ring them there and then and see what they say.

Gonna give it a check :D The mechanic said itll save me a lot of money due to labour and parts..

How does it work though, will Fiat do the work or pay for the garage to do it?

A FIAT dealer will do the work, then that FIAT dealer will claim the money from FIAT, just like they would when doing warranty work.

Has to be a FIAT dealer.

Okay cheers, suggestions for getting a car with no ins, and more than likely overdue MOT to a Fiat dealer without breaking the law?

Book an MOT to be done at the FIAT dealer after the work is done (driving to pre-booked MOT) and have them collect it (garage's insurance).

Apparantly u can do it yourself right easilly, just need some copper pipes, thats all it is :| Might just get some from work or something and get someone at work to weld it up.. Job done.

Well Fiat have said my car has already been done.. But the mechanic said they just replace them with a standard stainless steel which rusts easilly where as he will coat them in copper, so that wont ever need doing again.
