I just received my new VH226H from OcUK and first impressions were good until I noticed the amount of backlight bleed on a black screen. It can't really be noticed with normal use but once the screen goes black or there is a lot of black towards the edges, it shows up really bad.

Is anyone else experiencing this and is there a way to reduce it at all? I really don't want to have to return this :(

Thanks.

The only time I can see it causing a problem during normal use is playing a game or watching a movie with a dark scene in it. I tried out a DVD at fullscreen and skipped forward to a dark scene and the bleed was quite noticeable.

It's a great monitor in pretty much every other way but spoilt by this problem.

i get a little backlight bleed at the edges of my samsung 226bw but its hardly noticeable
but i got my monitor based on the fact it was one of the best 22" available at the time
i payed about £250 but i could have saved £70 if i got a cheaper make but quality was
a primary concern for me not price

I've just received 3 of these Asus VH226H monitors and there is significant backlight bleed from the top and bottom on black/dark screens.

It really doesn't bother me though, so it's a personal thing I guess.

What are you suggesting? I'm not making a mountain out of a molehill, everything I have stated in this thread is entirely accurate and true. Nothing has been embellished.

Fair point , and i think i used the wrong words or way i put it , what i mean is more possitive things have been read than negative , so i,m sorry if i upset you ,or maybe you thought i was saying you were wrong , just being honest in what reviews i,ve read so far ..Happy New Year to you and yours ..:)

Yeah i,ve just looked at newegg ,and it isn,t looking good :( think i might be changing to a other make , it was the res that sold me , but that was before all the reviews came back from you guys and on the net

It depends how bad the bleed is, if its so bad that u cant see things properly on a dark image then yes its a problem, but majority of the time it shouldnt be. Weigh up the good things about this monitor as opposed to the bad (good price, resolution etc). Its down to some people people putting up with more than others.

To update you on the situation I have been using the monitor for a few days now. After tinkering around with the settings I have it at the point where the backlight bleed is completely gone with normal use, including watching movies and gaming. The only time it is visible is when the backlight is on but there's no display output, i.e. when you first turn it on or for a brief second when windows loads up.

I must admit I was quite worried at first but now that it's all set up I'm very pleased. For the price this is a great monitor. The proportions are perfect, the response is great in games, colour representation is excellent and it really looks great sat on my desk.

A once worried but now very happy customer :D

Also, I ordered this from OcUK and the service was excellent. On my doorstep exactly when it was supposed to be and it didn't cost me a penny in shipping for the monitor and a massive box with heavy speakers in it. Win!
