which free anti virus?

Avira AntiVir - been using this for 5 months odd now can't say a bad thing about it.

Most people will say Avira or Avast, AVG isn't really all that good.
 
Yeah AVG is pretty poor now. Tried Avira recently and it was better than versions of Avast I'd tried in the past. I'd say Avira.
 
When I looked at the free version of Avira it didn't include email scanning feature. So that was a minus point for me.
 
Avira [and to some extent Avast] are as good as any payware AV's. The only niggle with Avira is the nag screen which can easily be resolved!

Shouldn't be an issue as only demented sausage smokers open unsolicited email attachments.

Avast used to be really good for me but then it kept screwing up and I couldn't work out why.

Upgraded to NOD32 in the end, not free though unfortunately :(
 
I had tried avast in the past but seemed clunky, I had just installed avg before OP and the new version sucks, so i guess i will try avira for a while.

nod32 i used to have and was good, but i am a cheapskate I don't really like aV software but you kind of have to on a windows box nowdays.
 
avast! here, imo much quicker and nicer interface compared to AVG
.....but i've never tried avira so can't honestly comment on it
