I know nothing about cameras so im at your mercy:p
All i know is that its got to be something that aint flimsy and will be alright in my army backpack, oh and can take good pics:)

Right i have a Canon Powershot A470.

Its a brilliant camera, is you search james devaney on facebook ill accept you so you can see my pics of wembley in 08.

For a point and shoot you wont get much better for the price, mine was half price for the week too so i got it on a bargain, its around £90.

I got reccommended this from a mate at work whos good with cameras, i wrote a few down and he looked them up and said these were the best from what id choosen.

OcUK sell the Canon A470 for £77.29 inc VAT

You should take the advice ive been given and stay with Nikon or Canon as they are companies that specialize in cameras unlike people like Sony who specialize in all brands of electronics.

The camera i specced is brilliant and if you just want to take photos that are quite good quality but nothing on par to a SLR then yeah this is your best option, there are other point and shoot cameras out there but unless you are into photography you wont see much of a difference and if its for personal use then you deffo will be happy with the finish product.

Im so happy with the results i got from wembley although i did miss some photos because i didnt think to half hold the button to focus before pressing it fully to snap the snutter.

Noob mistake :)

All in all its a good camera and i dont have any problems with it except battery life (although not major) as its AA batteries and this is always going to be an issue but better if your no where near a computer or power source, i took around 400 shots on 2 sets of 2xAA batteries.

Im 99% sold, shame im not on facebook you could add that extra 1% by letting me see some pics. Aint you got them on here at all?

Anyway cheers im gonna hit the order button on pay day (thurday) i cant wait:)

See above

There resized to 800x600 and the quality is no where near as great as the origninal size.

Msn trust if you want the original and more..

Some questions:

1. What accessories will i need, i want the bare minimum. Will i just need to buy a bag, or does the camera come with one? If not i just want a bag that can fit my camera in that sits in my pocket still.

2.What kind of memory sticks?

3. How much memory should i get 2gb, 4gb, 8gb or 16gb. How may photos would they equal if i wanted all my photos set on high quality.

EDIT: Very nice pics, i really want that camera now :)

Firstly, i know, secondly, thank you :D

1) I aint got a bag, i just put it in my pocked or let it hang from the wrist on a strap that comes with it..

2) Erm, standard sized SD memory card, there about £4 if not less then that for a 2GB on a knwon auction site, i got 2 of these

3) About 388 pics for 866MB

I couldnt be happier with the camera that i have :)

Time for work now, shame, ill speak later.

Your gonna hate me james07:p but ive ordered a different camera, my budget went up a bit so i choosed a different one.

There pretty good too, pretty much the same thing, you wont notice too much of a difference.

Would've said the Canon IXUS range, but you've ordered now! And buy a USB Card reader, generally faster than the USB-Camera cable.
