I was thinking about getting a Thermalright TRUE Black 120 CPU Cooler. Is that a good choice for a cooler?

I have my CPU clocked to 3.4ghz but feel that with a good cooler could easily go higher as its only at 1.2v

What fans would I get for it? I dont want anything too noisey, maybe a happy medium.

What are the best 120mm fans as well? As I can put an extra one at the top of my case.

Thanks

Yes, that's a great cooler, and still one of the best of the bunch. As for fans, the Noctua fans (Noctua NF-P12 would be my choice, and can be had for £13 if you shop around) seem to work best with the TRUE. Only problem is they are quite expensive, but you get what you pay for.

No worries. If you are interested in saving a little money, then the Xigmatek 1283HDT is right up there in most reviews I have seen, for a lot less money. You can also buy the Crossbow bolt through kit rather than use the standard push-pin fitting.

you are purchasing the best cooler on the market imo.

i'd suggest Noctua NF-P12 as well. i have two mount on my TRUE120

xilence redwings

cheap as chips, quiet as chips
That's good to know bledd, I was looking for a sub £5.00 120mm 3-pin fan and saw those Redwings but wasn't sure how noisy they were, I'll pick some up now andf if they are Noisy as hell I know where you live! :p

The noctuas are good, but if your looking for very high overclocks, the sharkoon silent eagle 2000's are very good, I have 5 in my rig (2 on a TRUE black) run of a cheap akasa fan controller.

Yeah I am hoping as you know to try and get at least to 3.8ghz. Maybe more if I am lucky.

So the sharkoon silent eagle 2000's are better than noctuas?

Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000's:
- Rated speed: 2000 RPM
- Sound: 36.1 dB(A)
- Air flow: 76.4 CFM
- Cost: £7.99

Noctua NF-S12:
- Rated speed: 1200 RPM
- Sound: 17 dB(A)
- Air flow: 48CFM
- Cost: £11.99

So the Sharkoon shifts more air, is faster, cheaper but is nosier. I can't tell you what the dB(A) or Air flow of a Sharkoon at 1200 RPM is, but at the high end, the Sharkoon seems "better".

Better is subjective anyway :) The Noctua could be the better fan in some situations.

The Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000's are too noisy unless you connect them to a fan controller, the Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000's are the ones you should compare to the Noctua's . . .

Yep the 2000 rpm version are pretty loud at full speed, mine are run of this controller,

Pretty basic, no fan speed monitor, but when theyre dialled down theyre not very loud at all, my workmate has the 1000 rpm versions in his system running full speed, the noise is pretty much on a par with the 2000's dialled down.
