Tried to replace the stock intel CPU cooler with an Arctic 7 thing, but now Im in a world of ****.

I took out the old cooler and whacked in the new.

Turn it on, beep-beep-beep rapid fire. I quickly checked conenctions etc no problems but the problem persisted...

So i removed the graphics card and the RAM. Turned it on, starts up (the fan on the Arctic 7 is spinning even!) and it gives me the looong-beep repetively; i presume its complaining about RAM.

So I put back in the video card and its still complaining about RAM, obviously theres no display on the monitor.

I removed and have tested both 1gb sticks in all slots but C1 persists, is it just a RAM problem?

EDIT: Ram slots are Blue Black Blue Black ... why when I put it in the first Black will it display C1 but no beeping sounds?

Found old 5400 RAM 512mb, tested and I get somewhere, a load screen that says "CMOS checksum error"

Firstly have you done a clear CMOS? If not then do so, resets everything to default
Can you get into BIOS with the older RAM? If so go in and manually set the RAM voltage to the rated voltage of the new RAM (check on manufacturers website, prob 2.1 ish) save and exit, put new RAM in then try booting see if you get any where

Yeh I can get into BIOS and Windows, I didn't have my keyboard plugged in before (duh), pressed F1 and its working with this 512mb of RAM. I'll try sorting out voltage settings and see if the newer RAM will work. it says [email protected] on the stick

OHHH! Voltages seemes to have fixed it, took some more fiddling with the sticks and it only likes them in a certain oder (?) Thanks mate :) :)
