Hmmm I ordered this yesterday when it was slightly higher any chance of the price being reduced on my purchase?
Post this on the Customer Serrvice Forum please with your details. I'm sure we can sort this for you :)

why was the price just cut?

also, anyone who has bought this, can you tell us how its running? are the fans noisy, does it run hot? etc..

Are these Gen.1 boards?

I'm interested... as my Sapphire HD4870 with its 'non reference wimpy overclock' card is ****ing me off.

What do you mean by a Gen.1 board?

The cards are ATI reference in design with the usual XFX tweaks such as Red DVI connectors, black PCB and good designs for the sticker branding.

Happy Days.

I'm ordering a load of new kit for the wife's new Sims 3 PC on Monday. Managed to wangle this 4870 out of her. :D

Oh cool, comes with a free game. Looks like I'm getting this then, thought it was a little expensive at over £190 inc VAT, but this looks about right.

Edit: Order placed along with a E5200 and a new mouse. :D

Hi Yewen,

By Gen.1.. I mean the card is produced as it was... PCB wise, when ATi released the 4870 series.

My Sapphire is non reference.. PCB is different.. analogue vddc and rubbish at Oc'ing :(

Apart from ripping the cooler off everything looks standard. :)

XFX are new to the ATI game and are just using standard designs across the range.

The only real manufacturer to do weird and wonderful stuff with the cards is Sapphire, other manufacturers such as Pallit and Gainward have done aftermarket coolers but most manufacturers stick to the reference design.

Must say the XFX packaging is superb, best presented card I have seen in a long long time.

White and red is the best colour combo around, I believe it was a Sapphire motherboard that had this a few years ago. A white PCB would be immense :)
