Beautiful CB500 and interesting review

why you aspire to own one of these is beyond me :?:

and as for his summary of yes' my blade would do most of those (better than the CB500)

1. If you like lightweight bikes - check
2. If you want a low maintenance bike - check
3. If your bike must be able to withstand a UK winter - check
4. If you want to scratch with bigger bikes on A/B roads - check
5. If you like a bike that's easy to pop to the shops on - check
6. If you enjoy pootling around the lanes - check
7. If good fuel consumption is important to you - check (30mpg pulling 130 is pretty good imo, mid-50s when not)
8. If you want a bike where running costs aren't exorbitant - check
9. If you want a change from heavy motorbikes - sorry, isn't this the first point again?
10. If you like a tank range of 200+ miles, not 100 - check

That review sounds like someone desperately trying to convince themselves they did the right thing chopping a VFR 750 in for a budget commuter twin.

No, you didnt, not ever.

You forgot to mention a blade costs thousands, both to buy and insure.

Thats not true. Did Honda give it these terms when it made it? Of course not.

Of course they did. The CB500 is purely a commuter tool. It has none of the latest suspension, braking, engine or chassis technology.

It is a nice bike but don't kid yourself, it is a 500cc commuter twin.

But not as the people here use it. They use the term 'commuter' as a slur as opposed to class of motorcycle.

No, they use it as a term to describe the sort of bike people run into the ground in winter then replace come summer.

Which is, in essence, what it is.
