I am after a decent AMD motherboard. It must have onboard graphics and a DVI connection. I have an AMD AM2 CPU and DDR2 PC2-6400 Ram.

Not sure where to start!

I don't overclock but want a decent board. Not quite sure of budget so just let me know what is the best / reliable etc. I don't really game on the PC anymore. Cheers

Looks good. So, decent graphics?

What about the sound driver issue that some have had with one of the the Gigabyte boards? Is this board affected by that?

as decent as onboard gets :p really depends on what you intend on playing and at what res.?

iv used this board in a couple of builds in the passed 6-8 months, all be it i downloaded the latest drivers for the website with no problems, so i cant really say much about the drivers that are bundled with the mobo disk :)

but downloading them shouldnt be a problem.?

So, onboard graphics are fine. Has DVI, No issues with sound?

You think it is a good little board? Quite new to Building PC's (Built a couple) so need good advice. Thanks

If i get this motherboard, what ram would you recommend please? Also, will 4 sticks work in it ok?

Get the Gigabyte

Go for the gigabyte, Ive just built my first system using the gigabyte MA78G-DS3H (which is a similar board but with hybrid crossfire support)

Reasons why I went for the board were:

Decent onboard graphics, because my budget cant stretch to dedicated graphics...yet. onboard runs hi-def video no trouble and doesnt struggle with vista aero either.

Support for 4 sticks of 1066Mhz RAM, this coupled with the 2600Mhz FSB means its insanely fast with the right processor.

From a weeks experience its been great, runs suprisingly cool in my Coolermaster 335 case (a cool 29 degrees:cool:) and provides plenty of upgrade options in the future. And mine doesn't suffer the audio issue that some boards have.

All in all a good buy I think.

Read this elsewhere:

The vast majority of the 780G boards have a three-phase or four-phase PWM circuitry design. These designs are completely acceptable for the 45W, 65W, 89W, and 95W TDP rated processors; however, drop in a 125W TDP processor such as the Phenom 9850e or 6400+ X2 and you are asking for trouble

Is that true?

If so, what other board do you recommend

My processor is: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 6000 3.10GHz
