GTX 260 1792 MB !!!!

they might as well name that card the GTX260 - GTA 4 Edition.

wont be much use for anyting else.

...and it will cost £350, but be slower than a 285. These custom cards are a little pointless IMO.

Is that card fast enough to make use of the memory? Or is it a gimmick card such as a 9500GT 1GB?

I also wondered whether it would have enough mem bandwidth to make full use of 1792 mb ? :S

lol - while more VRAM is nice the price is just gonna make this card an oddity as performance and price will be completely at odds with other cards like the 1gig 4870.

If they strap it as 64x14 (896bit) then it would double the RAM bandwidth which would be interesting. But I'd have thought that would need some other major changes to the core as well.

I hope the caps advertised lifetime is a bit off! 5000 hours is only like 208 days....

That's fine, that's running flat out. Most motherboards have similar ratings.

Edit:- like above it's 5000 hours running 24/7 at 125C, so in reality they last much much longer :)

Its almost pointless, but at least it's not just another generic Nvidia card with a different sticker.

Good on MSI for at least trying something different.

The most interesting bit imo is what the core clocking is like - I've they've bumped the voltage a bit and added some really good cooling and its getting around 800/1600MHz it would make it a seriously fast card.

haha not worth the money if you look at the specs compared to other graohics cards around, also why would anyone need THAT much vram, unless they were using super HD which isnt even out yet :/.

In fairness folks, if it costs less than £300 it will be a better choice over the GTX285, which really is a pointles card. The MSI is on a 55nm process so should clock high and demolish all of the single card opposition.

1gb and coming in at current 260 prices would make a lot more sense though.
