The funds should be with me next week sometime..thing is it needs to be a gaming rig and i'm out of touch a little..

I'd like a top end nVidia card please. (260)

My monitor's native res is 1680 *1050

Now i don't mind going over budget of £100 but ideally i'd like to keep to £1200

No monitor ect just a full base unit (Antec 300 case is fine)

Regard's. ;)

EDIT: I forgot to mention that i don't mind buying a "bundle" and building the system around that.

Thanks for your input and good price! ;)

As for the PSU i was thinking of a 600+ psu for future upgrade reasons..do you think i should go higher?

The GPU make i've never heard of?? are they anygood?

i just bought an i7 920 with a gtx 280 and the gtx 280 bottlenecks the i7 in games.

If you look around on reviews youll see pretty poor performance on i7 unless its paired with sli or crossfire.

The only time i7 is any better than anything erlse like phenom 2 is when you have sli or crossfire.

For that price i would go phenom ii.

Im selling my i7 to do that.

i dont know how to post the image of the shopping basket into the forum yet but why not go for:

should come to £1,052.17 and you'll have £140 to spare to be able to buy better cooling (if you overclock, if not standard cooler should be fine) or a 2nd hard disk or whatever you're flavour, for £1200 you can get a very good system just play around with the bundles a bit and see what you come up with :)

if alk your going to be doing is gaming then you would be better off with a phenom II and dual graphics cards until the i5 is realeased by which time better graphics cards will be out that dont bottleneck the cpu.

Yea i just read a post here about the GPU bottle neck in that Tom's Hardware review.

How about this..http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-041-OE&groupid=43&catid=1184&subcat=

pre built i know and out of my budget a little but what do you think? BTW iv'e had intel for nearly ten years so i guess it's time for a change :)

Edit: just found this one and for some reason it's cheaper? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-131-OK&groupid=43&catid=1270&subcat=

Not sure on water cooled..you have to top it up every so often right?

Surely the performance is still enough to run all of today's games though? Going i7 just future proofs it more doesn't it, as you can upgrade the GFX card later?

Thats right, i am planning to buy another gtx 280 in may but by my logic i would have been better waiting until i could buy everything at once because prices will only fall.

...and then you'll find your SLI setup to be grotesquely bottlenecked by the Phenom II, compared to the performance you'd get if it were paired with the Core i7 you own right now.

Your logic is completely backwards, unholy, and wrong.

Keep reading Tomany jackanorys (storys) about this chip, and mines on it's way tomorrow :D but most i've spoke to on here
(even with a ATI 4870 1024MB) with same spec, say there's run exellent in games, higher the res the better, with nice size screen.
Hence why i went i7 route
