About 7 years ago, on holiday in Pakistan, I fell ill with severe diarrhoea.

Doctor came round and installed an intravenous drip to help with dehydration. Later that day he called for someone to collect a Codeine injection and administer it to me, to help with the diarrhoea.

So my cousin collected the Codeine and injected it into the little plastic drip adapter on my hand, straight into a vein!

I was only 10 years old then, and didn't know Codeine was meant to be injected into muscles, not veins! And the bloody doctor didn't even give any instructions to my dumb cousin.

Am I lucky to be alive?

Not really, the only thing you have to worry about is a slightly off-coloured willy, if you don't have that, then you're fine.

Codeine is metabolised in the liver mostly. Side effects of iv administration are apnoea, hypotension and tachycardia. As to whether it could have killed you, well that all depends on dosage tbh.

This thread will soon be closed anyway as no medical threads allowed.

Yeah, I'd side with the conclusion of super powers too.

Evidently these powers have manifested themselves in your penis; it gets bigger and shoots webs.

Yea, you got away lucky.

The main difference between IM and IV is the speed of absorption. For IV it is damn near instant, meaning an otherwise safe IM dose may finish you off if given IV. Lethal side effect from codeine includes respiratory depression (to the point of stopping) and arrhythmias if high enough dose. Not to mention fingers and toes falling off.

Also for IM injections, there may be "particles" that are present, sometimes in suspension to prolong the absorption to last over time. These if given IV can go god knows where, including your willy. :D (sorry to hear about that)

So once again, read the label on the bottle, and follow the doctors orders to the letter.
