Over the past couple of days i have been testing a few of the most anticipated memory packs for i7

The OcUK Test Bed:

Dimas Tech Bench
i7 920 @ 4GHz
Asus P6T Deluxe [1303 BIOS]
Noctua 1366 CPU Cooler [2X Scythe Ultra Kaze 2000RPM fans]
ATI 4870 1GB
WD 150GB Velociraptor
Corsair 1000W PSU

this review will only give my opinion on each set at the lowest latancies i could achieve and the memory will be running at its rated speed

the memory tested is the following:

2000MHz Parts:
OCZ Blade Series 6GB (3 X 2GB) DDR3 PC3-16000 Triple Channel

Kingston HyperX 6GB (3 X 2GB) Intel XMP DDR3 2000MHz

1600MHz Parts:
Corsair XMS3 6GB (3 X 2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz)
corsairxms3.jpg

Kingston HyperX 6GB (3 X 2GB) Intel XMP DDR3 12800C9 1600MHz

the settings are all prime stable and shown in cpuz whilst using Sandra to test bandwidth.

  • the ocz blade really does shine as the most impressive - tight timings and incredible bandwidth
  • the kingston provides similar performance although does not like lower timings but does retain a more favourable price
  • the xms3 corsair kit performs similarly to the dominator part and is a great alternative, whilst they dont feature the same heatspreaders - the performance is very similar - which for their price is fantastic
  • the kingston 1600mhz kit performs similarly to the xms3 kit and cheaper than the corsair xms3

both 1600mhz kits offer outstanding value for money alongside some of the more popular choices such as the Patriot Viper and Corsair Dominator 1600MHz Kits

for those who demand the best performance, the 2000MHz kits both offer outstanding performance in every application we have tested

Great info guys. You lot consistently give us some of the best information to base our decisions on whilst keeping well away from the bull factor like some of the competition. That's why my decision to buy from OC isn't based on price alone. Keep up the good work.

Exactly our intention m8. Most of us here are enthusiasts ourselves. We don't care who the manufacturer is, we'll always endeavour to give an unbiased opinion on the product based on value for money and whether it does exactly what it says on the tin or not. In short, we'll tell it like it is ;) We have a great relationship with all the major manufacturers and they welcome this feedback too as they get an honest bunch of info about their products.

the memory is tested at its rated speed to show how it performs out of the box - if you tweak it you know to expect faster results

the sandra screen is to show the bandwidth of each kit

i didnt have time to bench any games/apps as i did it whilst working

if you compare the sandra screens to eachother then its all good
