hi,

had a very bad experience early this morning concerning one of my 2 hazro 30".

both have worked fine with no problems since purchased in dec/jan.

i turned on the computer.....everything looked okay...loading bios...loading boot screen ...dos...and even loading windows (using vista ultimate x64) all looked fine then it got to the login screen and ..AAAaarrrgghhh!!! three wavy static lines and the screen is showing the same screen 2 and just starting 3 times like a tile effect...see images :(

*i have sli 8800gt and tried swapping the cards over and still got same results.
*i have tried all dvi sockets on both cards.
*i had a spare dual-dvi cable lying around and that didnt do anything different.
*tried connecting to my laptop...its being detected but not allowing me to extend the screen which when i tried in feb it had worked.
*tried 4 sets of drivers ...from cd and of nvidia and evga websites.
*monitors havent been moved since jan so nothing to do with vibrations.
*the main computer and both screens are connected to 2 decent seperate independant surge/spike protectors...

for some reason the screen i got in jan which uptill now has alwasys been detected as HZ30WB Is now being shown as Sangyo HZ30WB as shown in pictures and wont for some reason go beyond 1024x although it only happened once and i have never recreated this but when i installed the drivers from the maufactuers cd the max resolution was 2048x1536 but as i stated it only happened the one time and even the nvidia drivers now only detect it as a digital monitor rather than before stating HZ30WB.

the working one from dec is shown as HZ30WB Q3in nvidia drivers and windows display manager.

has the firmware/bios been currupted somehow? cant see how tho as the screen wasnt used in any way as heavily as much as the Q3 as thats my main screen..an ideas???

entering windows...heres my desktopalthough its turned into a sort of tile effect as theres only one animal also with red arrows indicating wavy static lines that pulse...

monitor being clearly displayed as sangyo in nvidia display panel

now i have connected the working panel as my slave to the sangyo which is correctly shown as HZ30WB Q3.

this shows the max resolution being offered as 1024x on the Sangyo HZ30WB

and the working screen (Q3) being correctly shown as 2560x which im typing this on now

nvida screen being shown correctly on working Q3 panel

and here is nvidia control panel being dragged from dodgy screen to working screen and both the same resolution...one is clearly wrong

is this a good case for rma which im doing on monday morning?cant see why not but just asking for advice from people in the know..and who have already sent in rma to overclockers as thats who i got mine through.

luckily i can be patient as i still have the other screen tho i annoyed as uptill now both were doing so well and all my previous screens were item to last for years not months :( (crying).

any advice if you know what this is....cheers:(

two identical screen ...cant you copy the bios from the good 1 and flash the bad / faulty 1.....to be honest im not 100% sure its possible......but worth a google thou.

lines like that on the screen suggest to me the graphics card that is what can happen if the Clock/memory clock are increasedtoo high so the chances of it being the monitor is quite slim, would recommend uninstall your graphics driver and re-installing it...this sould fix the problem...unless you have tried overclocking the card then in which case you just "Downclock" the card.

I know this because when finding a higher clock for my old 7950GT OC when goes too high then you get the symptoms like below...

As above really.

Hav you tried swapping the GFX outputs and cables?

sid

Hi,

as mentioned at the begining of the thread i have..

a...tried swapping the 2 cards over and still got same results.
b...tried all dvi sockets seperately on both cards with just the faulty monitor and just the working monitor and working monitor is fine so it can be both the graphics cards.
c...iv tried a another dual-dvi cable which just gave the same results and also tried the cable on the working screen...no difference.
*tried connecting to my laptop...its detected as digital monitor but wont allow to expand or clone to it and wont go beyond 1024x res.
*tried 4 sets of drivers ...from cd and of nvidia and evga websites.

and as stated both worked flawlessly since dec/jan and i dont believe the cards and drivers are at fault if the other 30" hazro is woking fine on both cards.
im confused as to if the bios.firmware is faulty as i thought these had scaler chips which are hardware based and automaticaly give you 1280x and 2560x resolutions.

what resolution is dos? as thats okay and vistas loading screen is okay only when it arrives at the login screen its going weird on faulty screen while other 30" is showing correct image....oh and i tried clone and that still didnt work giving me same weird screen effect.

i think im going to rma it, although im worried im not going to get a replacment and get dumped with a refurb as they are shifting loads online at reduced prices at the minute although not on their website.
