So Ive just migrated my comp from a Coolermaster CM690 to a CM Storm SCOUT and thought I'd share my opinions with anyone considering this case.

Have to say I've got mixed feelings about it to be honest.

Build quality is fantastic and it does look better externally and internally but I'm very dissapointed with the amount of space inside.

See pics below:

1: Old CM690, lots of space for a £60 case, good airflow, lots of fan placement option & great cable management. internally it looks crud though.

From the above pic, I dont think I would be able to fit something like a 4870X2 in, which is dissapointing.

The 24pin mobo power connector would also not fit through the top feed hole no matter what I tried so I had to route around the front, behind the the front panel and through one of the 5" bays.

On the plus side the supplied fans (2x 140mm & 1x 120mm) are very quiet & the red leds can be turned on & off via a button on the front. The hole cut in the mobo tray is also a massive plus as it means I aint gotta take the mobo out everytime I fancy a new cooler now.

Would I buy this case again? Probably not but tough, Ive got it and the thing is built now.

Just bought one of those myself to replace my (you guesed it) CM-690 :D
Still got a few parts to gather before I do a build log though as i'e decided to just replace the whole thing.
I'm fairly sure that a 4870x2 or similar will fit in there given that it should take 10.5" cards, but only just mind.
As long as the power connectors are at the top of the card and not the end you should be golden.
Internaly its fairly small but its got holes in most of the right places for hiding stuff, nice job on hiding the cables there ManCuBuS.
What are your temps like after the case move?

Nice tidy builds, there! The panel with USBs, power switch etc. looks like brushed ali in the pics, is it? I like the all-black interior, too.

Your comments about being disappointed reminded me a bit of how I felt when I bought the Coolermaster Ammo 533 case a few years ago - it looked like the dogs wotsits online but was a bit of a let-down when I took it out of the box.

Pretty much the same mate, which I suppose considering theres less room in this case isnt a bad result.

Yes it is brushed aluminium fella the surround its held in is obviously plastic though.

Yea, youve done your cables in there very nicely!!

Thanks for this, Ive been wanting to see this case a bit better since it first appeared on OCUK, looks good, despite the few flaws you've pointed out

Very nice build looks great.

One more case i like my when it comes to buying time it's going to be hard to chose stuff.

Thanks for the positive feedback chaps.

Having played around a little more last night the temps seemed to have dropped a good 5c.

My Q9450 @ 3.6 was idling around 40c and loading at 65c but now its idling around 35c and highest yesterday was 59c.

That chip is being moved on though now (just sold it on ebay yesterday) So Im going to be putting an E5200 today until I get my hands on a decent E8***.

Be interesting to see what the temps are like with different chip in.

Im planning a build myself and ive been half pushed between the scout and the HAF 932.... Least the interior is black, which a lot of manufacturers seems to overlook.

Also those who dont like the handles remember this things meant to be transported, e.g lan events

i ve got the storm sniper and i've got to say that it is very good for watercooling with out modding at all for instance you can fit s 240 rads and mount them in the case with no mod at all but if you want a 360 in a liitle bit of modding to do but the scout doesn't look as that it will not even one 240 without modding.personally the scout just doesn't do it for me.

The scout is designed to be smaller because it's a lan party case.

Ah, hence the handles, that makes sense now - I was thinking they are a bit intrusive to the overall look. I do like the idea of being able to have side fans and a window though.

Good clean build there m8!:)

The handles come in very handy for me, which is one of the reasons I went for it.

If you can make out from the pics, its actually elevated off the floor and is above my monitor. It sits in a little cutout in the wall next to the chimney and as I sit looking at my screen I look straight up at the bottom of the case.

The handles make it far easier to lift on & off the holders that it sits on. If I'd had a standard desk, I would have probably gone for the Sniper.

I love the look of the CM Storm SCOUT and what's done my head in is this case came out after i brought the coolmaster sniper. I would have brought the storm instad of the sniper.
