well if your like me you all like seeing pic's of people's new builds so i thought i would show you all my new set-up

it's all up and running and i'm just doing the new system benchmarks and testing, nothing is overclocked.......YET :D i just want everything to bed in and all that before seeing what i can get out of it but i will update this post when overclocked

i do have one thing i might have to do before going mad with overclocking i'm not liking the case i have at the mo the bottom card's fans have very little room to draw air in due to the psu being very close, also the new cards are VERY long so in the market for a new one

Not a great fan of the PSU position in relation to the GPUs :(

Be interesting to see the benchmarks - I did a similiar upgrade awhile back - but you have a different CPU to me.

While your probably aware - don't be suprised when theres only minor difference to the 3D Marks 06 scores :D
 
here's my 3dmark 06 score from yesterday 8800gt sli stock
and here's my new system score gtx260 sli stock

i'll be doing the rest of the benchmarks a little later i'm just doing a ati tool load test on the cards at the mo, what temp's are right ati tool say's 71'c and gpu-z say's 54'c for one of the gpu's and 46.8'c for the other???

btw what were your p2 temps with the stock cooler and what are they now with the Core Contact Freezer?? if that is the cooler you now have. (sry for going off topic a bit :D )

GPU-z is usually correct.

Thats a bigger gain than I expected with 3D Marks 06 - tho my 8800GT SLI setup got 17.5K.

cool so should be plenty of head room for overclocking :D, the temps for the p2 were 55'c being the highest temp not overclocked for the stock fan and now the highest i've seen is 43'c

and yes i know about the dust but getting a new case sometime soon so will give a proper clean up then :D

just off to do the rest of the benchmarks, just finished running ati tool for the last 30mins and gpu-z say's the highest temp was 55'c for 1 gpu and 48'c for the other so i'm guessing nothing to worry about :)
 
yeah i know i need a new screen, how do you think they will do @ 1920x1080p as i do have a 1080p tv i could game on and i do plan on getting a 1080p monitor at some point

anyway left ati tool running for over an hour and temps stayed @ 55'c & 48'c, does anyone know what's safe when overclocking?

the only thing is i think all the games apart from crysis are all stock patch so will have to patch the games and retest lol

i was going to run vantage on my laptop just for giggles but wouldn't let me due to screen rez not being high enough even when set to 720p in settings still won't let me

anyway let me know what you think :)
 
Hmm - just testing Lost Coast on 1680x res, 16x AA, x16 AF, all settings maxed in game...

With a Q6600 at 3Gig and 2x 260GTX at 590/1296 I get over 200fps... looks like that Phenom is holding you back a lot.

EDIT: With 3.6 on the CPU and 729/1458 on the GPUs I've almost doubled your benchmark for lost coast - I'm assuming the settings are pretty similiar.

is that with the video stress test or playing through the level? the stress test stutters at the start and i have seen that the gpu down clocks to about 250mhz in 2d mode but i thought i read someware that the gtx260 don't have that ??? has anyone else had the same thing?
 
Thats doing the stress test... yeah it stutters for a very short time at the start.

Mine clock down to 300Mhz in 2D mode.
 
right very confused now, just run hl2 lost coast @ 1080p with sli on and got 141.56fps and without @ same rez i get 141.72fps has anyone got any idea what's going on? i'm running HL2 on xp 64bit if it helps
