100 car pile up on the Autobhan! Nice.

That is quite normal for Autobahn driving. They don't have wrecks very often, but when they do they are doozies. "Stau!!!"

Ghost Riders are amusing also, which is when a vehicle gets on an exit ramp instead of an entrance ramp and ends up going against traffic. Fortunately, since they have very strict rules about driving to the right unless overtaking, they typically don't cause many problems.

There was a huge pile up in the North East not very long ago due to people driving like muppets in the fog iirc.

Having driven on the autobahn quite a bit, I dont think their motorways flows any better than ours really, and not all the autobahn is unlimited.

MSM is right tho, it will be cleaned up pretty quickly, here the motorway would be closed for days!

nightmare if your at the back of the queue...You'd be there for days!!
I wouldn't be surprised if their large pileups took no longer to clear up than some of our seemingly small accidents.

The German's priority is to reopen the road and minimise traffic delay. On the other hand our Police's priority is to investigate the incident and apportion blame.

I prefer the German approach :(

I disagree, I find that certainly German and French motorways are some of the best in the world - the States where they sometimes have 7 lanes still don't necessarily work that well, whereas even the 2 lane motorways in France and Germany seem to work very well. Comapare it to our 3 lanes and traffic and roadwork nightmare here in this country I think there is a clear difference!

However, I agree the Germans will clear it more efficiently.

Good news that no one has died, but it does say that a few people suffered life-threatening conditions.

Accidents happen, whether or not it's excessive speed, driver error or mechanical error or just a freak of nature - it's just one of those things.
