Ok - my first build in my life and I took one of the i7 920 @ 3.8 bundles.
IT WORKS. I'm posting this from the new system and I'm amazed I managed not to **** it up - so far.

i7920 @3.8
6Gb Patriot RAM
Giga X58 UD5
Hitachi 1Tb 7200
4890 1 GB Vapor X
Antec 300
Antec True Power 750w

Idle temps according to Everest as I type this are from 45-57 ish. That seems about right to me.

I'm looking for tips. What should I be looking for now ? There was a weird shut down on first OS install. Went straight to 'off' without the dialogue box offering shutdown. It then powered back up but all LEDs on the mainboard were red. I powered down and back up and seems to be fine...updating Vista 64 now.

Thanks to OC UK and to you all. I'm feeling quite proud !

Upload with photo bucket or Imageshack, they supply a code to copy and paste to the forums.
If you do upload, use the resize button on the image host to 15" monitor, this will make the pics are not to huge :)

is 57 your temp at load?

That's not a full burn. That's gaming and some small tests.
Haven't seen anything like that since. Will be posting pics when I've finished.

I suspect that the Giga maninboard energy saving feature is my only problem at this point. Prolonged inactivity - full shutdown.

Does anyone know how to disable this ?

Yup

good to see another happy customer :)

It's a good deal. Top piece of kit.
I must admit I was getting pretty nervous when I read all the complaints, but it works A-OK. And it went together quite easily. Apart from the small issue of forgetting to send the bag of cables which had to come later.
I can see how that happens though, you unpack everything to work on the board, install the cpu, wire it up etc. Then re-pack everything for shipment and the litle bag got missed. No probs at all.

Heh - kids are well pleased. I actually got some Oooh's and Aaaah's at the speed and new graphics.
