GTX 275 on 500w psu?

I have a OCZ stealth 500w psu and have recently been thinking of upgrading my gpu from an 8800gt to a gtx275. Question is will the psu be powerfull enough? i should be right in saying the card requires 550w but I have read several posts on various forums and people are saying that the recommended is always higher than required etc etc....

Is it worth trying with this psu? or would it be sensible to invest in a new one?

i think the rule is to add 50w to the recommended

the recommended is over 600... its like 630.

It would be a bit touch and go with your PSU i think.

I ran an Asus HD4890 on a Corsair VX450w PSU with an E8400 @ 4.2GHz without any problems...

+3.3V(36A), +5V(30A), +12V1(18A), +12V2(18A), +12V3(18A), +12V4(18A)
