Nice and cheap this time of year and into September which is when I'm looking to go.

Looking for recommendations really. Nice hotel, near the beach, must have a pool and a spa would be nice (or not kiddified).

Doesn't have to be on the coast but near would be nice.

No I'[m fine with either villas or hotels

Hotel would be nicer as I was planning on Half board so dont have to worry about price of eating out, etc.

What are the prices like?

Find a house/villa in gozo.

Xlendi bay, somewhere near ramla, ta chenc, Masalforn, all great places to stay. Most of them are within range of a fantastic beach.

Stay away from malta if you want to avoid kids/loud annoying people.

I have a place in sannat which is a wonderfully quiet area, near the cliffs. Within walking distance of xlendi, ta chenc and victoria.

Depends on where you eat to be honest. You can eat happily starter and main course each with a cheap bottle of plonk between two for about 40euro total. There are a few really nice restaurants like Oleanders where it is 20euro a main meal each with upwards of 60euros for wine. Personally I would spend extra just to eat out because the best bit of the holiday for me was food. I was astounded because like in the Greek islands its a bit hit or miss but every place I ate at was pure excellence.

He said hotels :P

I stayed here when the family went last summer: http://www.gozovillas.com/gozo-property-details.asp?ID=65&PID=574

Absolutely cracking place Gozo is. I really really want to go again.

Xaghra... that's near Ramla Bay isn't it?

Ours was http://www.gozovillas.com/gozo-property-details.asp?ID=2&PID=19 and we ate in Xlendi at some nice restaurants.

If Masalform is the place I'm remembering; you won't want to stay there... it's the tacky cheap package holidy'ish bit of Gozo that shouldn't be allowed on Gozo! (That is Masalform right? Or have I got the name mixed up with the place I'm thinking of?)

ok cool. Found a nice villa.

Next step, cheap flights to / from Gozo airport.

Very much doubt that's going to happen!

Fly into Malta, BA and (sl)easyjet go there. Might want to stay in Valletta a few days at the start before heading over to Gozo?

Yeah it was a bit tacky but it is fairly easy to get to and compared to a lot of holiday resorts it isn't bad at all. However there is Steve's English bar near the sea front which has free wifi, sky sports and curry on Thursday :p I completed my PADI there so I was hanging around for 5 days or so.

Off to Xa'biex or whatever it is called in about a month for a job I've been offered in Malta :) Sounds good

Think its better than the Barcelona job offer

We usually stay in St. Julian's and on a few days drive and take the ferry to Gozo and have a nice day on Ramla Beach. You can always try Ghajn Tuffieha and Golden Bay beaches in Malta.

It’s a nice break in September. :)
