I RMA'd my 8800GT, and got a 9800GT in return (RMA Thread)

I installed the latest Nvidia driver, as the driver I had came out before the 9800 did. The fan is at 100%, and does not ever slow down. Normally it would drop to the minimum duty cycle when Windows loads the drivers, but this isn't happening.

Searching for this issue gives lots of suggestions. The best I've got is to use RivaTuner, which I've been able to successfully set up a fan profile on. The problem is that it doesn't remember my choice - so every time I load Windows I have to set the fan to manual, then back to auto again to get the settings to kick in. That's already getting on my nerves, so I need your help!

All suggestions are welcome, has anyone else had a problem controlling fan speed? What can I do?

I know this is absolutely the last thing you want to hear, but you need to RMA it again. It's not working as it should which means one of two things -

a) It thinks it's overheating so it runs the fan 100%
b) It is overheating so it runs the fan 100%

Neither is acceptable. BFG are among the best for customer service on the planet, give them the opportunity to sort this out.

If needs be, send Jeff Koslowski another e-mail, but they're not doing this on purpose and you need to give them a chance to sort this out to your satisfaction.
