Just saw this on BBC news:

BBC said:
The world's largest manufacturer of mobile phones will join the PC market with its Booklet 3G netbook.
The Windows-based device is about 2cm thick and will offer 3G connectivity as well as wi-fi.
Analysts said the laptop was a "natural extension" of the company's product range but the firm would face stiff competition.
Nokia will release price and availability information at an event in Stuttgart on 2 September.
The Booklet has an aluminium case, weighs 1.25 kilograms (2.75 lbs) and its 10-inch screen is HD-ready.
...
The Booklet also has integrated Bluetooth, GPS, a webcam and an SD card reader. Nokia claims it has a 12-hour battery life.

along with a video:

More info should be announced next week, quite interested to see what the price tag is. If they can bring it out at sub £350, I'll definitely be interested.

Anyone else heard about this? My NC10 is still doing well after nearly a year, but this model seems to be a lot more portable, especially with internal 3G.

Thoughts?

PS: I searched and didn't see anything else on the forum about it. If it has already been posted, sorry!

BEST. NETBOOK. EVER!

it even looks like it's running windows 7 in the video :D
i can't imagine it being very cheap though... i'd say £500 minimum.

If this is a success at that price point, how long before Apple get in on the act...

Looks like a nice design, should be good, will have to wait and see.

If they had of slipped a DVD-ROM drive in there, it would fly out of the shops.

If toshiba can do it on their r600, it can be done with the size of netbooks these days.

I can count the number of times I've used an optical drive in the last year on one hand, it's pointless trying to put one in.

this netbook looks amazing. I was an early adapter with the Asus 701 7" netbook, and I'm looking to get a fully evolved "next generation" netbook and it looks like this is it.

If they could bring cost down to around £350, we'd have a winner :)

The point with this kind of netbook is that they have missed the point. Netbooks were meant to cheap to buy. For 500 more you can get yourself a nice C2D HP 12" 2530.

Reference, it's available now (or very soon) in the uk and a few reviews are starting to filter out. Now in my opinion it's the best netbook going (decent build quality and excellent battery life) but it's a eye watering £649! Seriously, it's a nice machine but at that price what are nokia thinking?
