I know most of us will be playing MW2 MP but this has just arrived on the PSN blog.
Hi All,

I’m Gordon Van Dyke and I’m the Associate Producer for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 here at EA’s DICE studio in Stockholm.

Today we’re excited to announce that our forthcoming multiplayer beta is coming exclusively to PS3, so you’ll have a chance to experience all the action, destruction and vehicular warfare ahead of our full release in March 2010.

Battlefield Bad Company 2

Starting on November 19, the beta will feature the huge ‘Arica Harbour’ map where up to 24 players compete to secure valuable crates in the ‘Rush’ game mode as the action moves across a variety of different locations. From an initial vehicle assault on a military outpost the war winds through streets of a deserted town to an intense final fire-fight in an industrial harbour.

Check out our announcement video here.

Getting access to the beta will differ from country to country, but here are a few specific ways of getting hold of a key:

* We’ll be holding a special limited giveaway right here on the PlayStation Blog (details TBA)
* Pre-ordering the game at participating retailer
* Checking out selected gaming sites such as IGN or GameSpot in North America.

That’s it for now…although if you have any questions then let me know. Be sure to check back here tomorrow when we have a brand Battlefield: Bad Company 2 new trailer.

BATTLEFIELD: BAD COMPANY 2 MULTIPLAYER BETA FOR PLAYSTATION®3 SYSTEM LAUNCHES NOVEMBER 19
Experience All-Out Modern Warfare Open to All Players with DEMO in Early 2010
Stockholm, Sweden – November 5, 2009 – DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. studio (NASDAQ: ERTS), today announced the upcoming Battlefield: Bad Company™ 2 multiplayer beta exclusively on the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Starting November 19, PlayStation 3 gamers will be able to experience the unprecedented action, destruction, vehicular warfare, squad play and open sandbox environments that only Battlefield can deliver. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 provides a true all-out war experience like no other modern warfare game. For beta key distribution details go to www.battlefield.com.

“This is an outstanding opportunity for PlayStation gamers to get early access to one of the most action-packed and polished shooters in the marketplace with Battlefield: Bad Company 2,” says Rob Dyer, SVP, Publisher Relations, SCEA. “We’re happy to help DICE achieve their superior level of multiplayer excellence in the game.”

“With Battlefield: Bad Company 2 we’re looking to raise the bar across all aspects of our multiplayer experience, setting a new standard for online play,” says Patrick Bach, Senior Producer on Battlefield: Bad Company 2. “From the graphics to the vehicles, weapons and destruction, we are delivering the best online multiplayer game next year, and we want gamers to experience it themselves by playing the beta and demo.”

The Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer beta will feature the Arica Harbor map, where up to 24 players can compete in one of the game’s four intense multiplayer modes called Rush. This new map displays a superb balance of vehicle and infantry combat, as the American assault unit attacks the Russian army base with full force, advancing further through a beautiful desert town and towards the industrial area in a desperate attempt to overtake the Arica Harbor. Heavy vehicle warfare on the first bases gradually turns into an intense infantry fight as the level progresses, showcasing this best-in-class online war experience.

In December 2009, DICE will invite players to participate in a PC open beta. Then, early next year, all players worldwide will get to experience this premier shooter when DICE releases a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 multiplayer DEMO on the Xbox 360® videogame and entertainment system, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 will be in stores on March 2, 2010 in North America and March 5, 2010 in Europe for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the PC. The Limited Edition is available now for pre-order at participating retailers worldwide (while supplies last).

Interesting - was never at all interested in BF, but BF1943 was a nice introduction to it...

Though again a multiplat FPS usually means a PC purchase for me - perhaps I need to start changing that policy in light of MW2...

ps3ud0

Yes you do indeed with modern warfare 2 , due to crap matchmaking on the pc :(

However bad company 2 does indeed looks like its going to rock so will be picking this up on pc due to dedicated servers and the fact i have always found battlefield games the bomb on pc .

wasnt so keen on 1943 but at the end of the day it didnt cost a fortune and you can jump on it for 10 mins for a quick play :D

Nice trailer that! Saw another posted a while back of actual ingame footage which also looked fantastic. Hopefully i will be able to get a Beta code.

Can anyone actually tell me the difference between a regular BF game and Bad Company?

Bad Company was a sort of slightly dumbed down version for consoles, but they injected a bit of decent humour to compensate.
The MP itself was extremely sound, although I think it was a bit too easy to get enough rankings to open all the unlocks.
If they tighten up the rankings to make it harder and possibly go the Killzone route with autoaim, it has the potential to be the best MP out there imo.

Not being able to go prone did irritate me a lot in Bad Company, I think it's a shame that they haven't added it in the second one. :(

Why? The last one was excellent, unless you mean the SP campaign, which isn't what BF is about anyway.
The multiplayer was a COD4 beater imo, but then I don't really like COD, so that's not too surprising.

I've come from playing bf192, bf:v, bf2 and bf2142, bf:bc was horrible in comparison, didn't like it at all, felt too big and clunky (if that makes sense?)
Will give the sequel a go though.

Tbh I think that was entrely necessary in the first game, snipers could be pretty tricky to spot as it was, let alone if they'd been able to go prone.
It helped even up the classes.

Yeah, I know it was for balance purposes but it just annoys me not being able to do it :p I never got into BC multiplayer which is a shame as itlooks like it could have been lots of fun, I'l definitely be checking out 2.

Hope it's better than the first bad company :(

Agreed, multiplayer was just missing... something. I can't quite pin it down but it wasn't interesting and felt imprecise/clunky in many respects.

I did enjoy BF1943 though.
