Best network for Data

Im trying to compare networks for best data with a reasonable amount of data. For me 500Mb is nowhere near enough. Anyway heres a rough comparison below.

Contract

Tmobile
£5 pm 1Gb
£12.50 pm - 3Gb (restricted but unenforced)
£22.50 pm - 10Gb

Vodafone
£7.50 pm - 500mb
£15 pm - 3Gb (restricted data)
£25 pm - 5Gb

O2
£7.34 - 500Mb

Orange
£7.34 - 500Mb
£9.79 -1Gb
New customers - (£4.89 per month for 500MB of anytime mobile internet access)

Pay as you go

Tmobile - £20 pm, 1Gb pm (unlimited texts, 600 mins pm)
Virgin - 30p per day, 1Gb pm

I'm sure O2 are 2+gb not 500mb, unless they have changed it recently?

Isnt that for home broadband? If its mobile thats good news.

Whats the speed like? Its so damn hard to find the fair usage policy info.

O2 doesnt have a limit as such, you just cant use it for tethering

None of them have a 'limit' (bar orange who charge you through the nose for going over). What is the fair usage policy of o2, there must be a guide/rough amount?

mobile broadband is a different thing - its a different package the networks try to sell you - which is crazy when you could have it bundled into your standard mobile contract.

3 have quite an excellent mobile-data plan going on their pay as you go simcards - 150MB free whenever you top up by £5 or more (£5 is the minimum top-up), which lasts for 90 days, and you can then spend your balance/credit on either £10 for 1GB, £15 for 3GB or £25 for 7GB, which lasts for a month.

O2 works fine for me as a free bolt-on to my £19 a month simplicity deal. It seems pretty unlimited and tethering works fine (whether it's officially allowed or not I don't know). But it seems quite slow, however.

Can someone explain the apparent difference between "mobile broadband" and "mobile internet"?

Are you referring to have a data bundle on your phone versus having a seperate device (such as a dongle) for your laptop?

I prefer coverage to allowance (I feel most data packages are quite generous anyway) so i'd choose Orange above all.

In fact, it's one of the main reasons i'm with them.

Mobile broadband uses a dongle to connect to the internet via your network provider...whereas mobile internet is through the phone.

Thats what i understand of it.
