24" iMac issues

Purchased a new iMac in May this year. Been using it for a few months and absolutely love it, but I'm beginning to notice some problems with the screen.

First of all I have the backlight issues in the bottom corners of the screen that seem all too common after a quick Google search. Secondly I use Adium and have it positioned in the top left of the screen at all times. When I minimise the window or close the program, I can see quite severe ghosting of where the window was.

Again, after searching various Mac forums, it seems like both are common problems with these iMacs, and I'm thinking of taking it back for a refund since it seems to be an issue Apple have acknowledged to many customers.

Do the Macbook Pros suffer with similar issues?

Where did you buy it from, I doubt you will get a refund after so many months. I can't see any reason that they won't just tell you to get it serviced by apple or a repair centre.

Apple Stores: http://apple.com/uk/retail
Apple Authorised Repair Centres: http://apple.com/uk/buy

I bought it from the Apple Store in Manchester.

I also can't see why they wouldn't give me a refund. I've been reading up about it and a lot more people than just me are having this problem, so I've just paid £1,300 for a system that's got a common defect with the screen. Surely the Sale of Goods Act would prevent them from forcing a repair rather than a refund, if they're only going to fix what is clearly a common problem temporarily?

Shame really, it's a cracking system but I'm not prepared to put up with the ghosting.

The problem is image persistence. I had it on my 24" iMac, it gets worse, trust me.
It took a lot of work, but I managed to get the panel replaced the trafford centre for free.

Not much you can do about light bleeding though, it' luck of the draw, I don't notice it on mine, I'm not sure if it even suffers from it at all.
