So I bought my Volvo V70 back in October during the mail strikes. I haven't received my new logbook yet. My last car never took this long. How do I contact the DVLA to see if they received the last V5C? Their website seems rather useless.

Just go online and fill in a 'no V5C received from previous owner' form, fill this out, and put in a brief covering letter explianing that you have already sent it

State in the letter that you're not paying because as far as you know, they should have it.

There are about 1000 loopholes in the dvla, so don't worry about it, just send it in and they'll update their badly kept records with what you give them!

Yep, it's pretty easy and free, you just have to enclose the new keeper bit of the V5C you got from the seller.

Although I now have 2 V5s because of this (bought the car in May, sent the DVLA a letter in July, received one V5 in August and another last month )

Do you have to destroy the older one or does it not matter? I'm in a similar pickle as Burnsy but have already sent of the form stating that I haven't heard anything and still not got anything back.

Will just have to hold on tight a little longer and see what occurs. :(
