Does anybody know if they are Bi-Xennons or standard Halogens?

Any owners on here who would be able to answer any further questions?

I've tried Google and Renaultsport's websites but they both neglect this information.

Cheers

bit of googling appears to indicate neither of them have it

Hence why its not mentioned in the spec. Dropped to reduce costs to compete with vauxhall no doubt, which also doesnt have them as standard, nor as an option.

Would it be costly or difficult to fit them yourself, not specifically with the Clio but in general to do a decent job (not illegal, poorly fitted HID chav jobs)

Also why would making it an option fail to reduce costs? Most manufacturers let you spec them for £400-£1000.

Thanks for the reply.

ive no idea why they've removed them as an option.

I can only think this is to match vauxhall who dont offer them on the corsa VXR even as an option ...

As for retrofitting them, unless theres a manufacturers healight to buy secondhand or new on the cheap, its going to be a bodge with reflector headlights and beam scatter all over etc..

By the looks of it some of them do.

There are two different headlights for the front, one is clear, and another has black markings between the light sections, which also look like the have the bi-xennon lights

This is what I don't get, I know the one you are talking about and the headlights do have that circular sphere lamp which usually identifies Xennons.

MrLol I find it quite interesting as Xennons are usually a signature feature of top-spec cars in the hot hatch market. Are custom HID jobs generally a bad idea then?

hmm

this is what the brouchure lists

Double optic headlights with chrome background
Double optic headlights with black background

Double Optic appears to be renault speak for Bi-Xenon

http://www.renault.co.uk/about/safety/xenon.aspx

but nowhere do they confirm it. How nice !

Is Xenon Double Optic different to Double Optic ? or have they just chopped the Xenon part of "Xenon Double Optic" to confuse us ?

Double optic is the bi-xennon lights i think, as it is what my parents megane has.

I know that if the Clio 200 is specced with cornering lights it definately has the bi-xennons.

Will go see if the megane brochure is downstrais to see about these double optics :p

They look like Xennons...

See the sphere in the light?

Yeah, seen on clio197.net that they are on a car that has the cornering lights specced up, gonna see if i can find out more :D

my 197 has xenons + cornering lights, not as standard you had to spec for them... would think the 200 would also have the option

iirc you couldnt get them on the cup version, just full fat or full fat with cup pack

Seems about right, as renault on their site dont let you spec the cup with the cornering lights

Hmm be careful with the wording, my phase 1 172 has double optic headlights.

It just means it has dipped bean projectors and full beam on a seperate bulb whereas the lower models have a standard reflector style unit.

this is what i thought

Just because it has that sphere in the headlight, doesnt mean it has HID.

Projector headlights does not automatically equal Gas Discharge, HID, Xenons

So It has projector headlights, but xenons hence why xenons are called "Xenon Dual Optic Headlights" as they fit a bi-xenon system to the existing projector headlights.

Thanks mate, will have a look now.

Seriously considering these. Not quite in budget but I'm assuming in 6 months time they'll be closer to the 10k mark. Are they that much better than the 197?
