I saw this when looking in the "Show people your desktops" thread and gave the free version a go as I'm someone who likes their desktop icons (I know, I know I should use the start menu!). I've ended up buying the pro version as noticed it was on offer for $9.99 with the extra features I wanted (arranging icons in the fences by names, etc and automatically putting new desktops icons in certain fences, etc).

For £6 or so (the price of a pint of beer where I stay in London!) I'm pleased with it as I never normally like "docks" etc for windows but this makes it really easy to find my icons, looks smart and you can automatically put new icons on the desktop into different fences when they are created.

The only problem is I couldnt just download it but had to install the stardock program which is like Steam... I found that out after buying it.

Review of it here - http://www.neowin.net/news/main/09/02/05/neowin-review-fence-your-desktop-with-stardock-fences

Can anyone help with this?

I've just bought fences, but found out that you can't manually space out icons within a fence. It automatically arranges them.

You can disable any kind of automatic arrangement, so it is possible to reorder the icons manually into an order that suits you, but not manually position and add space between them like you can on the normal desktop.

Is there any way to get around this?

I've tried to change my work flow to use the folder fences instead, and then display the contents using a list view. This works in terms of not needing to space everything out as it drastically reduces the size each file takes up, switching it from a large icon to a single row folder entry.

But then you lose the ability to disable sorting like you can in a normal fence, so you can't even manually reorder the files within the folder fence. It has be be ordered by one of the default arrangements!

Arghhhh, this is so frustrating.

Is there away to disable sorting in a folder fence so it is possible to manually order them?

Thanks!
