Ok, I made a topic a few months ago now regarding a new spec. However due to urinating my "Computer fund" up the wall, I had to postpone the spec slightly. I now need to decide what I am getting by next week which is when I will be ordering it all. Basically, this is for a gaming rig with abit of 3ds max, zbrush, and maya work. But mainly a gaming rig. Below are the specs I have come up with. I can spend 550ish but I can stretch to more if its totally worth it, no more than £600 though.

Please note I have a 600w tagan i-xeye PSU already, so do not need one.

Ok, ignoring the price difference, which one is best for my needs? Do I need to make changes? I do want to overclock, although I have NEVER overclocked before. Will I be able to overclock these ok?

Thanks in advance!

There's the M4A79XTD-EVO but it doesn't have the new sata3.0 and usb3.0 like the one you got.

No.

Doesn't have enough pci-e lanes for crossfire.

Lacking cooling too.

Honestly, you hit the nail on the head first time.

Would http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-242-GI&groupid=701&catid=5&subcat=1481 as cat mentioned be a better substitute to bring the price down quite abit?

The Asus M4A89GTD PRO lacks USB 3.0 and you would need to get the following version instead to get USB 3.0:

Also the X4 955BE can be had for around £125 if you shop around. The Gigabyte motherboard is not Crossfire capable and the Asus 890GX and 790X motherboards do have cooling for the VRMs though. It really depends on what you are looking for in the build. Do you need Crossfire?? Do you want to overclock or get a cheaper motherboard and divert more of the budget towards the CPU and get a quad core instead??

Crossfire could be a possibility in the future yes, and yes I do want to overclock (just need to learn how) I think I am going to stick with the original AMD build, seems the favourite among you wonderful people!

Hey guys,

Sorry to bump this! Buying tomorrow, and something came i wanted to check! I noticed this memory:

Is on this week only offer, and it works out the same price as the ripjaw mem i specced. Is this better? Also does the offer end tonight if its a this week only thing?

Another quick question. Is that EVERYTHING I need in that spec? I wont need any extra cables etc? Also will I need thermal paste or does the artic cooling freezer come with it?

So excited to buy this badboy tomorrow :D

Cheers

EDIT: ALSO! The samsung f3 500gb is out of stock :(! Unless they get in any tomorrow which i doubt, is there a similar one for the same price which is just as good? I want to avoid stretching to the 1tb one!
