Hmmm i wonder if i can now cancel my voda contract that i took out last may with the HTC Magic...due to them changing the terms of the data useage...will have to ring them up and ask if its still unlimited but with a FUP of 500mb...if it is then thats fine but if not then ill be cancelling...should save me £30 a month.

Personally I kind of hope they do this.
Because when I signed up for my contract it was 500mb FUP.
I feel that this change will be detrimental enough that I can walk away from my contract.
If so, I get my Desire for the pricely sum of £60 :)

When you do, post up mate. :)

I'd like to know this as well, might be an easy solution to move over to the Desire from my Magic.

You can cancel look on the forums clause 11.A I believe they must give yuo 30 days notice before change of contract (posting forums does not count) there implementing it on the 1st of june so if you haven't had a letter by now about it then .........

I just rang Voda to ask about these changes, - i have the £5 a month 'unlimited' extra. the guy on the phone tells me, there arent any changes for the UK, and that was to do with other vodaphone abroad...
he then goes on to tell me he could never get over 500mb himself, and he uses the itnernet a lot.. what a load of crap. but, the question is. did he just lie to me, or is there some chinese wispers going on?

i went from voda to o2 when i got an iphone, mainly for this reason... i got told time and time again id never hit 500meg and its impossible on a phone (from voda reps) lul.

I really don't think Voda have thought this through at all. There's threads about this all over the web. Plus they have clearly broken there contract agreement. Glad I don't have to take out a UK contract for another few months TBH hopefully by then the desire thing will of settled down and I can grab one cheap cheap

Does that mean I can legal cancel my contract now? Due to Clause No 11 in their contract?

11.1. Either of us may end this Agreement by giving the other 30 days prior notice in writing. Your notice must include your mobile number and the signature of the account holder. You must pay the Charges during the notice period.

11.2. You may end this Agreement by writing to us if:

(a) we don’t do something fundamental that we should have done under this Agreement within 7 days of you asking us in writing;

(b) we tell you that there will be an increase in the line rental charge by more than the increase in the Retail Prices Index ("RPI", calculated as a percentage) since the last line rental increase and you write to us before the increase takes effect;

(c) we increase your Charges in the UK which have the effect of increasing your total call and usage charges (based upon your usage in the previous month) by more than 10% and you write to us before the increase takes effect; or

(d) we change this Agreement to your significant disadvantage including the change or withdrawal of Services (we will tell you if this is the case) and you write to us within one month of us telling you about the change. This does not apply where the change relates to Services which can be cancelled without termination of this Agreement.

11.3. We may end this Agreement at any time by writing to you if:

(a) you do anything (or allow anything to be done) which we think may damage or affect the operation of the Network;

(b) within 7 days of us asking you in writing you do not do something fundamental that you have to do under this Agreement (e.g. pay the Charges when they are due);

(c) we are permanently unable to provide the Services to you.

11.4. When this Agreement comes to an end:

(a) we will disconnect your Mobile Device; and

(b) you will have to pay immediately all Charges outstanding at disconnection.

11.5. If this Agreement ends before the end of the Minimum Period and you pay us the remaining line rental for the rest of the Minimum Period in one lump sum, we will reduce this line rental by 2%.

If anyone does manage to cancel their contract early, please post and let us know what was said.
I would love to get out of my vodafone contract.

Thanks

I'd say so , there's another clause which states about changing contract details they have to give 30 day notice which elarly they haven't as its starting 1st June:o

anyone guessed i've had previous with vodafone:D

i'm very disappointed. Have always rated vodafones service and network - will be most certainly looking to terminate the contract and jump to tmobile now.
