Hi Guys,

being new to the OC forums I was wondering if you guys could help me out.

Im looking at a budget of £1200-1500 inc VAT for a system that will last me as long as my current system has (currently 4 and a half years, only a GFX and PSU upgrade). However the use of my computer has increased from word docs and a few games to: photoshop, video encoding, movies, gaming, office work, basic programming and possibly music recording in the future (being a guitarist).

I will also need a new monitor(s) and I have been looking at eyefinty/multi monitor setups to help increase my productivity and multitasking ability. I am currently interested in either 3 x 24" monitors (ie the BenQ G2410HD) or maybe 1 or 2 27" (such as the Hanns.G HZ281HPB). I feel that switching monitors to portrait mode may also be very useful for work related actvities which i know neither of these monitors can do.

Therefore I was wondering if you could suggest any changes to this spec (see below) and maybe some monitor suggestions. I have OC'd in the past but not for a while so tinkering is no issue so feel free to suggest other specs however i7 specs seem to appeal since they are current top range to last longer.

Thanks in advance.

Are you planning on re-using your current PSU? if so, what size is it?
Personally, I think there are better specc'd, better looking cases for less - but that's all down to preferences!
The rest of that spec looks good.

I'll avoid answering the monitor point, its not my area of expertise by any means ;)

Hi Cookeh,

Well I just quite like the case tbh, even if it is a bit expensive. Other cases I am looking at are the Coolermaster CM-690 II and the Xigmatek Utgard.

Yeah I will resue my current PSU which is a recent upgrade anyway, it this PSU.

I think I have decided on 3 the BenQ monitors, over a 27", maybe just purchase 2 to begin with, still a little to ponder on there, i think i can live without the pivot function.

Maybe swap out a HDD for a better Sound card? What do think?

Well an SSD would be nice, but the cost of them is a little high still. I will have a play with my spec see what I can come up with.

Ok had another go this is what i got:

About £200 more than i wanted to spend, any suggestions to dropping the price? Maybe drop down to an LGA 1156/AMD build? or Drop the SSD?

if you can afford this, then do it, looks great.

OK gonna just splash out the extra cash but 1 last thing.

have been looking around the forums and found Dell P2210H

Worth swapping 3 x BenQ 2420HDBL

Loose the LED back light and 6" overall space but get the dell professional dead pixel garantee, 3 year warrenty and extra manuverablity @ approx £50 less.
