which os these would be best for all round driving and affordability?

BMW Z4 http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...radius/1500/postcode/le100yf/page/1?logcode=p
Audi TT http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...radius/1500/postcode/le100yf/page/1?logcode=p
Porsche Boxster http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...radius/1500/page/1/postcode/le100yf?logcode=p

and how would they compare to a similarly priced Vauxhall Monaro http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classif...radius/1500/page/1/postcode/le100yf?logcode=p

I'm thinking that looks wise:-

1. BMW
2. Porsche Boxster
3. Audi TT

Performance potential:-

1. Porsche Boxster
2. BMW
3. Audi TT

Reliability:-

1. BMW
2. Audi TT
3. Porsche Boxster

I am thinking that the BMW is very reliable whereas a couple more issues with the other 2 however when they go wrong the bill price hammers the Porsche?

So out of these 3 would the BMW be the winner?

And is the Monaro simply a box and a V8? Does it actually drive nice etc as it's just a Vauxhall?

Out of those 3 the BMW and the Audi will cost similar amounts to run, the Porsche more expensive. None are cheap. Roof motor failure on a Z4 is a case of 'when' not 'if'.

a Monaro is not a 'box and a V8', I'm not sure what you are talking about there, it isnt a Vauxhall either its just Vauxhall badged.

I would not buy a Z4 if I had £8k, it isnt enough to get a really nice one really.

ok cool, i appreciate your input on this fox being the BMW conniseur(sp) etc. :D

I didn't realise the motor issue on the Z4 however i guessed about the boxster and TT. I admit i don't know a great deal about the monaro as i assumed it was technology etc Vauxhall bought and built in their name. Didn't realise it was a Holden through though as i was expecting the Vauxhallness to creep in somewhere.

If you've not yet experienced something like a BMW then get a Monaro. They are a right laugh, sure they've got a cheap plastic crap interior but if thats all you are used to it wont bother you :D

I'm thinking the Monaro wouldn't be a keeper as it's a hooligan car based on Top Gears report lol. :D

However i do have standards. i'm used to fords don'tcha know. ;)

:p

They're all a bit of a trek away apart from the monaro. Am I right in thinking S2000's now fall into this bracket? Not sure on the standard of them but it would seem to me you have missed out a vital contender.

VX please. V8 and rear wheel drive, yes please :p

Didn't Clarkson compare the VXR8 (similar car to the Monaro) to being just as good as the M5 but cheaper.

IIRC he said it was as fun to drive as the M5 for half the price, or something along those lines.

I think he said the specs were very similar.

and woah 9k for a Z4? Prices have dropped quite a lot!

with regards to being far away it really isn't an issue as i've travelled for 4 hrs to pick up spare parts for my race bike so spending £8k on a car i think i'll do similar lol.
