Just took a screen cap at the end there, where you can see the exhausts new exit.

Why don't they bring back one or two test weeks again (hint: Silverstone in June!).

I like the idea of extending the Gp weekend, with one day being unlimited testing.
Cars and most parts/personnel are already there.
As well as tv coverage income and extra attendance income from teh extra day.

Well Lewis and Jenson weren't driving their cars in the recent Voda promo ad...

Will expect all of the other teams to be making 'promo' vids soon.

should be automatic demotion to the back of the grid - but being Ferrari (and their lead driver) the FIA will ignore mid season testing day no doubt

That depends if they have broken the rule. I expect it will be another loop hole like f-duct and double diffusers. Expect other teams to start "testing" soon.

I thought the regulations stated that for these promo days or anything in season the car had to be in the spec it ran the last GP in.

Not that I can see

22.1 a) Track testing shall be considered any track running time undertaken by a competitor entered in the
Championship with the exception of :
i) promotional or demonstration events carried out using tyres provided specifically for this purpose by the appointed supplier ;

If it was just for filming purposes (in which case they wouldnt need Alonso in the car) I will eat my own ******* (its been that kind of day)

Well, of course it wasn't just for filming purposes. You know that, I know that, Ferrari know that, and the FIA certainly know that. It gave them the opportunity to bolt on this new exhaust design and give it a quick run out to make sure that it didn't set the car alight. But the FIA can hardly say "Oi, Ferrari, NO!!!!!" when they've let other teams do similar tricks to get around the testing ban.

Personally, I think the testing ban is completely perverse - this is Formula ******* One for crying out loud! I still think they should be allowed to test more, but only provided the track isn't one on the GP calendar. There's that great track in the Algarve near Portimão, Ferrari have got Fiorano, and Paul Ricard could be available if Bernie's company could come up with some arrangement with the teams.

I totally agree - testing should be allowed, but as it isnt allowed all this bs about "promo" days is complete claptrap

Although it's obviously not just a promo run, I don't blame Ferrari at all, they are just pushing the rules to the limit, which is the idea really.

The cost savings in testing werent about the venues or the testing itself, it was the cost of effectively having to run a second team often the other side of the world to the main team.

The extended weekend idea is a good one.
