*GTX460 Reviews Thread*

if it's £130-£140 i would have one tomoz :P infact i'd have 2 of them but it'll be close to £200 im betting which means it's not worth it.

That looks quite good. If it had a sensible price, I would possibly buy one.

Agreed, i will add more reviews to the post as they come up tomorrow morning, but if this is any indication then things are looking better for Nvidia.

I am impressed that the 192bit/768MB version beats the 5830 in every game test except for one (Dirt 2 1920x1200 8XMSAA) where it looks like it runs out of ram completely.

Power draw and temps also look massively improved. The 1GB version has lower temps, lower power consumption and pretty much walks all over the 5830 in every game. It'll be interesting how close it can get to the 5850, i'm sure it won't beat it, but never the less it seems way ahead of the 5830.

Here's hoping we don't get ripped off again in the UK, going by Newegg prices in the US, the GTX460 1GB is a lot cheaper than the GTX470, by ~$100!

The US prices are $199 for the 768MB and $219 for the 1GB, so that's £132 and £145. With VAT that would be:

GTX460 192bit/768MB = £155
GTX460 256bit/1GB = £170

It remains to be seen how badly UK retailers will price gouge, but realistically £130-140 is 5770 price bracket, the 768MB 460 is faster than a 5830. The 1GB is considerably faster, and ahead of the GTX465.

Added some further reviews to the first post from TechPowerUP, HardOCP, PC Perspective and Hardware Canucks. All reviews are extremely positive and these things clock like crazy - looks like Nvidia are back :)

edit: Anandtech now added.

I was thinking about getting a 5830 but now i will hold off untill there is a good official price and if it's not too bad 'll buy i one.

If these can come in at the same price as the 5830, they are surely the better buy. If they come in lower, then Nvidia have the midrange wrapped up in my opinion. Finally some competition!

I mean UK prices since we always get screwed over.

Yeah i agree, i'm saying if they come in at the same price as the 5830 - £160-190 - then they are the better buy since they are faster cards, and if they come in lower than that then it will be a no contest (at least until ATI drop their prices finally!).

Factor in the overclocking headroom on these and things get even better. The 800mhz 1GB Palit card actually beats the 5850 in many games and only trails behind by a few FPS when it doesn't win on Guru3D - and according to all the reviews, any GTX460 will clock well past 800mhz.

The overclocking performance is amazing key reason why i want one.
The price should be going up today for ocuk as nvidia had a count down am i'm amusing it's the gtx 460

Any SLI results? Will be interesting to see if with a higher clock an X2 version could challenge the 5970

Check out the Anandtech review linked in first post, SLI results look awesome to me. It's just behind the 5970 with both GTX460's at stock 675mhz :)

A full fat 384 shader GF104 x2 card should be a real monster if they make one (should be possible judging by the 336 shader part's power draw).

Wow, these cards look great IF the price is right and IF the price is right, I may regret having bought my 5850 last week.
