This will be starting on TopUp TV before the season stars.

Does just under £40 seem a bit steep to you?

I love watching golf and generally it's on SS3 or SS4. The Ryder Cup would most likely be on SS1 or SS2 though. I'd also watch the football but fear a lot of other sports I like will be hidden away on 3 or 4. It'll be ironic if SKy decide to shove all the football on SS3 and SS4 from now on! :D

Why couldn't they just do all 4 sports channels and be done with it?! :p

It does seem very expensive when Sky is £45 for all of the Sky Sports channels + ESPN + Sky 1 etc (or Eurosport if you take a different mix)

Where are you getting the price from, I thought it was £9.99 a month for ESPN then meant to be about the same for each of the Sky Sports channels?

Here.

Sky Sports 1 - £22.99 a month.
Package with SS1 and SS2 - £31.99.
SS1 and SS2 with ESPN - £39.99 a month.

I guess the reason why it's so expensive is that there is no minimum subscription.

No HD is a big turn-off for a lot of people I would have thought. I'm only tempted to get Sky this year for HD football. Cheapest option is about £60pm with HD, not much difference from the Freeview cost and you get HD + Sky channels.

Didnt realise it was that pricey on freeview. I've got all the channels on Sky HD anyway but I had no idea that was the cost of it on freeview

Jesus christ! £40 for freeview channels? Haha for £40 I'd rather sign up with VM or Sky TV and have the possibility of HD for a few quid more and a shedload of other channels.

Yea for £45 on Sky you get SS1+2+3+4 and ESPN. Also the Variety pack too so Sky1, Comedy Central etc. And the Sky+HD box is standard now with all new Sky subscribers, so you get the free HD channels as well and of course the PVR features.

Seems too much for Freeview.

It's also expensive because Sky like to try and mark their channels up when they are resold by other companies. They want you to look at the price and think precisely what many of you have said in this thread "I could get Sky TV, Internet and Phone as well as those channels if I just went with Sky".

It is very expensive on its own but take Virgin Media for example; you would have to take up their broadband and phone line as well and it's also tough luck if you are locked in a contract with your existing ISP. Also don't forget that not everyone can get the Virgin Media TV service. Sky is a better deal though but if you don't really care about the other channels you don't get with Top Up TV then it's not a bad alternative.
