Hey guys,
just bought a PC second hand, nothing on it to speak of bar a game, itunes and Kaspersky Internet Security 2010.
Specs are:
Phenom2 3.4ghz quad, corsair h50 watercooled
4GB DDR2 RAM
HD4870x2 2GB
Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-DQ6 motherboard
antec p183 case
hiper 880w PSU
2x 640gb WD HDDs RAID 0 config using Adaptec AAR1220SA raid controller
Windows 7 Enterprise
Anyway the PC has become mega unstable and doesnt even start up properly, i didnt install anything and from the off it was funny, it worked fine for the guy before me except for a bit of instability after a kaspersky update or something, then every time i switched it on it hung and crashed or bluescreened at the desktop before everything had started up correctly.
I went into safe mode and changed the compatibility to XP for Kaspersky and it began to stabilise and open up better but still wasnt perfect, and kept on being stupid etc
what i want to know is i have tried to install vista but it said HDD drivers not found, i think thats because they are going through the RAID controller so i was going to connect them up to the SATA ports as normal, i have 4, which way round do i do this and also will i be able to go ahead with the vista install? it came with my off the shelf PC a few years ago but i have the product code on the back of the old PC case and i am not connecting this new PC to the internet yet, i will buy the student upgrade for 64bit win7 professional to do a clean install again and sort it once and for all.
do you think this will work? the 7 enterprise at the moment is a mass license and the guy must have had it at work and took it home, he hasnt got the discs to reinstall it so there we go.
can you help guys?
Thanks so much
