Wow, what a difference from 2 5870s!

Games runs smoother, but it does get a bit hotter than the 5870s.

I have the fan on 80% but the noise is not as bad as i thought.

I fail to comprehend how a single 480 would be better than crossfire 5870's.

Min FPS is much better with Fermi cards even with a single card. Thats why it feels smoother and you wont have any of the Xfire bugs present so you can play your games without hardly any issues.

But yeah the max fps would be a lot lower and wont be as fast.

re:

I have had my fan set on auto since day of install

My idle temp is around 40c and ingame 85c :)

Cheers

my only concern with the 480's are the price, noise, heat and power draw.

they fix these in their next release of cards then i could be switching sides.
unless the 6 series are something special of course

Price : This is a much better price now imo

Noise : Over exaggerated

Heat : This is again Over exaggerated and with fan speed on 60c this is more than enough for gaming for temps and the fan is not overly loud imo

Power Draw: Do the 480s use a massive amount more than the 5870? and will this put a great deal of money on a electric bill?

I dont know my stats for the 480 regarding the power side of things, but how much wattage on load does it use compared to a 5870 100w? if thats the case most of us use/have PSUs that are at least a couple of hundered watts over that we really need.

The 480 compared to a 5870 regarding a electric bill, are we talking a few quid extra a month.

Im in no way condemning the 5870 and im not looking to start a Green/Red war here but regarding the Fermi its the same old boring things that keep constantly getting mentioned
