Great SLI scaling from 450

Lol looks like Techpowerup can't do maths on their own figures then :D

The real figure is 82%

~£90 turns it into a star, much like the 460s

Anand reckons it is $40 cheaper than 768MB 460 so £90 is entirely reasonable

Only question is then, what single card would better 450s in SLI for around £180-200 ? Obviously I'm thinking 5850, but why would you get 2 450s when a better single card is available?

Figures, £100 450 would have been a no when the 460 was priced at £117. Still, would anyone take a 450 at £100, over a £130 460....

If you're on a Scotsman budget say of £500 you might consider it then again I would also be looking at the HD5750 as well to save another £10.

TBH, the 450 is a bit to late when compared to the 5750/5770, at £100 is still seems expensive considering it gets out performed by a 5770 and is on par with a 5750, cards that are nearly a year old. Regarding 450 SLI at £200, I would just get a 460 and clock it or a 5850. AMD will be out with their 6*** cards soon and I'm sure the 6750/6770 will destroy a 450 for a little more outlay.

That's what I mean, not taking the enthuthiast aspect into account, SLI/Crossfire only make sense when:

A) You have a financial saving to make to get at least similar performance to a higher spec single card.
B) No other top end card exists so you get multiple cards to increase performance.
C) You need the additional outputs on the cards.

Because there are mad, mad people out there! SLI/Crossfire lower end cards rarely make sense when bought all at once. If you got one and left the option open for s second some time down the line fair enough. But buying two slow cards for almost as much as a single, faster card without the multi card problems, thats a bit bonkers IMO. The same people who buy two of these for SLI will probably spend another £100 water-cooling them too ;)
