I'm after a media PC for my living room which will allow me to browse the net, play some games and have access to my mp3s, photos and films

At the moment my budget is £400 but I'd like to get a one for less than this if possible.

I've already got Windows 7 so I wont need an OS.
Also could you let me know the best free software I can use to run a media PC?

For gaming add a dedicated gfx card such as this, bringing you up to your £400 budget,as its for living room though you may want a better case, however most dedicated HTPC cases are quite steep

eh? thats weird, I just looked and couldnt see any 4870s, and v few 4850s, v strange, yes in that case swap for 4870, sry, strange
I could only see the His, XFX 4850 and XFX 4890, I figured the His was worth the £8 over the XFX, and 4350s and less, as I say very bizarre

Thought about that but as I say I was looking for 4870 when I went there, and 4870 is quite bit more powerful than the 5750, link for OP
I agree dont get the 4850 though

Seems a good spec.

And if I was to leave off the GFX card (seeing as Mass Effect is coming out on the PS3 I'm not sure I'll do much gaming on it now) I could splash out on the Lian Li PC-C33B HTPC Case seeing as it can take more HDD's compared to the Antec ones

Considering that, would that initial spec change?

No the initial spec is still good, the only thing you can really up is the cpu by looking at a phenom quad core but tbh its not really necessary for HTPC

How does that sound? I've got a spare DVDRW drive I can use in it so can cut that out
