Battlefield 3 Will Get Extra PC Attention

Of course they are going to say that, they are unlikely to say "Yep, the PC version will be a direct port with the same features".

They said the same about BF:BC2 remember, the PC version was not vastly different gameplay wise was it.

It is all marketing.

"Extra Attention" could mean DirectX 11 or dedicated server support.

I remember the days when if someone had have said "Battlefield 3 will be a console port" I would not have believed it :(

Meanwhile, in the Marketing Department

Guy 1: "What can we do to get the pc gamers to buy this game"
Guy 2: "We could advertise it more"
Guy 3: "No too expensive, lets release a statement saying we'll give the pc extra attention"
Guy 1: "What for? The only people gullable enough to believe that bull**** already bought MoH for the BF3 beta key."
Guy 3: "Whats the harm? Doesn't cost anything and it gives the fanboys something to use to try and persuade people"

PC players have their own set of requirements. They tend to play only on PC, and they know their PCs have capabilities beyond that of a console. The gap is narrowing, but PCs still have a clear advantage in memory. PC players also demand a PC interface, a server browser, and anything that feels like it might have been "ported" from a console is going to get flamed hard. They are more forgiving of complex systems and will tear any design down into its parts to really figure out how it works. It's a damn sight harder to please a PC player, they have higher expectations.
LOL WUT? the gap is narrowing? how is it narrowing? if we take the xbox360 its a FIVE YEAR OLD CONSOLE.... the gap has been GROWING for a long time and its not just memory.

the article also mentions pc gaming is well and truly alive as we showed with BCBC2 its a bloody console port.....

im not expecting much from BF3 and then i wont be disapointed when its released and it has gimpy small maps and crappy 32 player servers, if they think the accuracy of the guns is the only diffeence pc gamers expect they are living on another planet

My thumbs arent as "coordinated" as they once were in my console gaming days, I'll be getting this on PC so I can use the m+kb.

The gap in on-paper specs has been growing for 5 years but the gap in on-screen graphics doesn't represent the difference in specs because most of the time, the power isn't used effectively. Mainly because a game is made for a console first and then ported to a PC after. Even if they bolt on some DX11 or something else, the main engine of the game isn't something that a console can't do. Some multi-format games are starting to look quite different. I think Mafia 2 looks quite a bit better on PC (not that I like that game) and Just Cause 2 also looks really good, especially the water. But it's still the case that in too many games, the PC version just has the edge on the console versions, it's still the same game. Looking at the specs of the consoles, it's amazing what can be done with them most of the time.

the ONLY bonus is I don't need to buy a video card every 6 months now I had a 8800GT for 2 years from launch I expect my 5850 will last me 2 years as well? Depends when the next generation of consoles hits the streets, but I think i will get launch console next time and get a couple of decent years out of that.

BC2 was as interesting tech demo but nothing more. I got bored of it fairly quickly and the damn over blooming really got my goat.

If they outright came out and said the consoles are getting a 'Modern Combat' and the PC was actualy BF3... but thats unlikely to happen.

"Battlefield 3 Will ONLY Get PC Attention"

What it should and can only be otherwise its not Battlefield.

:(

LOL, that was posted by Demize, the same idiot that said the countermeasures were working on the pc versions heli's...because he tested it on the 360 version.

From what i remember it took him ages to even admit they weren't working and was in denial for a while about it Apparently its hard for him to load a pc version of bc2...
