Hey

I made a thread about this three years ago, and I've finally got the effort to do something about it :p

I've got a giant server case which looks pretty dated. Need some ideas on what to do with it. I went out and bought some primer and satin black paint, some wet and dry paper, and a jigsaw :p

Unfortunately it's got 80mm fan holes, so I'm going to try and make them bigger. I plan to put two Kamabay style fan mounts in the front.

Shall I spray the inside?

And **** sort of window shall I do? I was thinking of just one in the bottom half.

I'd definietly spray the inners black!
As for window, I think a nice rectangular panel with rounded at the bottom would suit it to a T.

As for fans, I'm sure I've seen some square grilles somewhere, maybe even on OcUK, that would make it far easier than extending the current ones?

Try to fit two different systems in it?

It is an option :) However I'd have to make a new motherboard tray, and that sounds like a lot of work

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean fan mounts that let you fit a 120 on an 80?

would love to have something like this to mod.

if you get fed up and want to get rid of it let me know

The front panel is primed :)

Going to tackle the side panel and try and cut a window over the next couple of days.

Looking good.
I like Centurions idea of two systems in there.

Wouldn't have thought a mobo tray would be that difficult at all.

My next problem;

The side panels/top panel are in one piece. It makes putting the cover on really difficult and annoying

I'm considering cutting the panel into 3 pieces, but I'm worried the finish will look crap. My other option is to try and make new panels, but I'm not sure how i'd attach them.

As for the drive bays, I'm thinking of getting two Thermaltake iCages (cheapest fan/drive mount I could see) and using some Lian Li style mesh blanking plates in front. Opinions?

Moved my rig into the chassis for now, everything was getting too hot in my Lian Li A05B.

Ignore the drive cage, I'm planning on mounting the drives in the 5.25 bays, and the HDD cage is removable anyway :)

I'm thinking of making my own side panels, either out of black aluminium or black mesh. I'm thinking I can literally slip the sheet between the gaps on the case at the moment;

Em, if you had an 80mm hole you could always cut out a 100mm opening (or so) and fit a fan grill infront of it.
I can't like as I don't think OcUK stock 'em.

There's enough room for a superconductor Liquid helium recycling plant.

(see MRI super conductivity)

You could always get one of those dual processor things that were advertised the other week.

£3000, but boy it looks worth it :D
