just sold my fabia vrs (used by both of us) as I now have a 335i. the mrs finds it too intimidating, so she wants a smaller car - I would also appreciate doing shopping or running into town without worrying about the beemer...

requirements:
small
auto
... that's it really...
oh and the budget is 1,500-2,500

thanks!

Does it have to be an auto? Most autos in small cars are pretty pants and just add to potential bills. A £2000~ Focus would be ideal but I've no idea what the autos are like in them.

auto is needed, the mrs isn't a natural driver - and having driven the beemer she really liked not having to change gear
problem is the beemer is too big for her, plus we now both need a car for our jobs

Focus autos are fine, as I've said many times. We are on 2nd facelift auto and had 0 gearbox issues.
Know others who have had them and all ok.

this one's half the miles and still in budget:

silver

It briefly mentions Honda service history. No idea if it's good value but looks a nice car, I'd maybe have a look if it's full Honda service history - low town miles mean you really want it to have been serviced every 12 months but some people just go by the mileage.

It might be worth going to see that eBay one, it's on offer, so if you got a few hundred off it would be close enough to the budget to allow you going over it

message from the boss, "that civic is too big, something smaller please!"
back to the drawing board...

In real life they really are not that big, in 3dr form they can't be much bigger than a brand new Fiesta.

If she wants smaller than that it leaves you with the supermini class, but again can't think of a decent auto. Maybe a Yaris?
